Origin 2023

Loved the Munster try celebration. As soon as he crossed you could see all the QLD players turn around to congratulate Collins on the assist. Holmes was even next to Munster when he scored but turned around to find Collins instead.
Collins effort was above and beyond in that play... he made amends for a few bad earlier mistakes.

This bullshit about courage and wanting it more is seriously misguided. Poor selections, poor execution and poor bench rotation caused this. TPJ was woeful, and a terrible selection from the start, Junior Paulo was ineffective, Hynes was wasted and caused the second last try. Teddy and Cleary played poorly and the attack was simply terrible.

Freddy has demonstrated his coaching credentials yet again. As someone said preciously Uncle Nick knows and anyone with 10c worth of footy nous knows the same.

Just not wanting to hear the Qld jumper means more bullshit for the next three weeks. Jumper had nothing to do with it - poor decisions at critical times by a poorly managed side led to the loss. Simples.

TPJ forces a pass early in the count in our own red zone - result try Maroons. Nothing to do with courage or jumper. A lot to do with stupidity. With a lead Hynes rushes up in panic. Pulls the line up with him and just like that the umbrella defence is defeated with one pass. May have got away with it if he made the tackle. Stupidity.

Simple game footy! Freddy and his staff simply fkced up. Wrong players for the wrong reasons.

I think we could replace Teddy with Edwards; he had a shocker and I personally think he is on the fast track to irrelevance. He tired to do too much himself, was out of position in Defence on several occasions, is too slow in attack and overall was ineffective - won't happen though.

Our attack was terrible - wouldn't know they trained together except for the Martin try. Is Cleary the messiah he is made out to be? However, despite the stupid mistakes, we lost that game because we couldn't control the middle. Our middles did not stand up and control the ruck.

TPJ and Paulo out, Cook to rotate with Api, Mitchell and Graham in the centres, Hynes on the bench was wasted. He is either a 14 and playing as an extra forward and reserve back or he isn't selected. He is either in for Cleary or Luai or not selected. It isn't about picking a the guy just because.

Rant over - bring on the Faders!

Biggest issue is the halves: Cleary is a very structured player, he rarely looks great in origin. Not blaming him or suggesting he be dropped but DCE usually looks the better halfback on this stage. And there's a universe between Munster and luai. They are far more confident and play with a lot more authority.

The forward pack was also weirdly constructed. Yeo, Murray, Paulo and Haas somehow not more dominant. Obviously TPJ was a horrible selection. To me, he's always looked a bit lazy in lateral defensive movement and he's not a dominant defender. I don't really understand why he's there. There would be a number of props, including Klemmer, who are tougher and harder working props. Again, I don't get TPJ's selection at all: team not playing well, indifferent form, never really shown anything but flashes, other props in great form.

HAHAHA that was brilliant.
Cameron turned around expecting to be swamped only to find his mates 15 meters away huddling round big Lindsey. He just carried on in his own celebration lol.

NSW didn’t lose that game.
They were beaten by a side who refused to acknowledge defeat.
The incredible differences in application to defence stood out to me most.
Rubbish.

Lets look at it. Ill discipline lead to two tries from set plays in the first half. Poor defence - maybe but more about stupid penalties, gifted field position and the stop start nature of the game at that time.
TPJ makes a stupid decision in our own 25 that leads to a soft try.
Hynes makes a ridiculous defensive call and causes an overlap.
Collins out jumps Teddy - good effort I'll give you that.

Qld were having a red hot crack for sure. They were gifted points by poor decision making on and off the field. Starting with some incomprehensible selections.

NSW had the game in the bag against 12. The decisions of individuals in the NSW side led to defeat not some super effort by QLD.

The super effort by QLD was repelling wave after wave of attack with a hotch potch lineup.
They also took their rare chances to score.
NSW had most of the ball, most of the field position. QLD belted them in defence.
3 injured and another in the bin for absolutely no reason. Quite a few unforced errors and penalties. Yet only let the one structured try in.
I didn’t see anyone bitching about this NSW team at the time selections were made public.
…and as for the QLD spirit - how many more times does it have to be shown to you before you believe it?

No bitching? TPJ and Paulo were both bolters with minimal support. Hynes as 14?
Belted them in defence - 10 minutes to go it is 2 points in it. As I described earlier Qld took their chances off poor discipline early. Nothing about belting defence in it. Also not sure when the arm of the player in control of the ball wasn't considered to be part of the ball. The decision to not allow the Frizz try was a 50/50 that benefitted Qld. A key moment in the game.
As I very well described before, the Qld spirit had some effect, but it came down to some very poor NSW decisions: TPJ selection and then brain farts, selection and use of Hynes and Hynes brain fart that put Qld in front; selection of an out of form Turbo.
Don't get me wrong Qld played well - but don't give me some bullshit that Qld made some super effort. NSW kept them in the game by making stupid decisions. The right thing to do with 10 minutes to go and a 2 point lead was play strong up the middle, kick to the corners (40/20 would be nice), play a straight line in defence.
What did NSW do?
Panic in defence.
Munster's try was pure Collins effort - I will give you that; but please don't try to sell that it means more to be a Qlder!
Kid yourself all you want.
That is simply rubbish.

Too much is made of the Penrith connection, who never look nearly as good in clubland without Edwards. Edwards is the key to the spine, the one who makes the lead up work of the others pay off. If you don't bring in Edwards, then you can't justify Luai's selection. We saw what the Penrith Connection looks like without Edwards last night.

Teddy is past his best and now is now playing like Gallen - running lots, being praised for his metres, but his hogging comes at the expense of better positioned players, eating up tackles. His positioning and physical defence was shown up last night too.

Bula has shown us the difference a solid FB can make. Walsh showed it last night too.

Freddy has been out-coached by Slater again. Selections and strategies. Latrell and Turbo made Fittler's record look better than it should. Flanagan?

I wondered before the game how Freddie was going to use Nicho and if it wasn't for Turbo having to come off, I'm beginning to wonder if he would have actually got a run at all.

Very disappointing debut for Nicho, probably wishes now that he hadn't been selected at all.
Freddy only picked him to satisfy the general public.

He wouldn't of played if Turbo didn't go down.

Hudson and Pangai, woeful.
Wonder if he'll stay solid and select them again.

Murray and Martin came on and things improved dramatically.

How do you watch Martin and Murray play every week and not make them first picked in any team.
Freddy tries to be clever and srews his state.
💯

The Penrith connection is predictable and won't pass at this level.

The try that Martin got was nice , he ran a good hard line

QLD defended better - won them the game.
Turbo and JAC not origin fit and looked slow.
Didn't capitalize on our opportunities over the line twice and couldn't get the ball down. The Penrith boys easy targets but the only ones who looked dangerous even without dominating.

The more I watch the replay the angrier I get.
What coach starts with TPJ over Junior Paulo?
What coach sits Cam Murray on the bench for 30 minutes?
Can Danica coach game 2 if we need to have a 9 celebrity coach please.

Fox didn't have much of a chance imo
Didn't get any ball

Not sure if that was Freddy's tactics or what.

I mean FMD, if you put Hudson Young, Frizzell, Martin and Murray on the open market and said you can have any 2 for the rest of the year is anyone besides dumb arse Freddy picking Hudson Young and Frizzell?
Let Des coach game 2. He's got nothing else to do.

TPJ and Hudson Young dumb plays and I thought Tedesco was a weak link most of the time he ran the ball never passed and got tackled! Blues were clunky and Teddy was one reason for that . Note his Chooks have worst attacking record this year
Fittler picks good players and plays them out of their normal position .Don't think he's a great coach
Result don't care much The only team I care about called Tigers so I hope Api come thru unscathed !
