LIVE GAME Round 14 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
When you look at the spine of any great team they have 4 play makers…..how many do we have? 2.5 with Bula on the improve and with no changes will be 3 next year. Would love if we had a 4th, more options and harder for the opposition. Atm they really only need to focus on Ali and Brooks. Though I like our 6 before of his goal kicking….we would do more damage in attack with a playmaker. For me the missing link!

To add. We have 2.5 when API is on the field. Otherwise 1.5. And before this….we had just one….hence the blame over the years. But even blind Freddy can see what is missing. Well only my opinion and what I see as obvious. In fact I would even go as far to say, that though the majority hate Brooks, I wish there were 2 of him out there. But impossible…also then the issue of goal kicking….just need another half to pair up with Brooks. Or get 2 new ones. But not the rubbish that is mostly tabled on here. So bloody close last night. But still proud. We are a different team. Heading in the right direction.

We won the run metres 2000-1300? Won the set restarts 8-0? Penalties 14-4? Missed tackles 19-52? Line breaks 7-0? Id love to see how good our stats could be if the ref didn’t cost us the game and screw us over
Don’t forget 54% possession.
We have to start turning these stats into points. 2 weeks ago, similar stats brought 11 tries.

The guy had both feet on the ground, the momentum was pretty much over from Ice, and there was no movement from his arms to tackle the player he was simply bracing himself after falling to the ground. - but my point stands - once we lost our challenge the ref knows he can change the game at his whim. Fogarty to his credit never went down, like the wimp Feldt. It was simply not worthy of a penalty.
It had nothing to do with not having a challenge. If we had a challenge its still a penalty.

Fair penalty on Paps. But the finish to that last
Set was absolutely criminal. Could have thrown
it over from where we played the ball. Unreal
Thats the difference between having a smart half, and what we have unfortunately

The first try was a bit weird too did Stefano strip the ball out look like he just dropped it cold
Btw news.com.au saying sheens made at the isiah call but I don’t think he was he seem mad at all the other calls

I don’t know why with the short kickoffs they don’t just tap them back we’re horrible at diffusing them we need to work out something different.
They should have put Nofa at fullback for the restart, they were never kicking long, and Bula on the wing to use his height, we are so predictable at not getting possession when defending the short kick off

I'm disappointed. The Raiders have given us curry for eons, especially bloody Rapana. The comeback was exciting but it doesn't make up for a failure to exert pressure at the end of sets. They are kicking too deep and low, which doesn't give the chasers time to force errors. Munster gets this right every week. Our guys usually kick too long in attack.

There's potential in this team. The pack is great and there's some talented up and comers in the back, but that backine is still very much a work in progress. We can expect a big gap between good days and bad days for a while ...

lol that tackle when they had 5 players on him was a joke

I think this is the 4th game this year where we've won on the stats, by some margins too and yet still lost...........need more polish in the halves.

The halves were really good. It was Api hogging it and taking the wrong option heaps of times that made us clunky in attack. There was a period where Api kept going right when he had to go to Brooks.

Api is a great player. He is probably our best player but I really think he didn't take the right option out there heaps of times.

Raiders were lucky with their kicks for try’s but it still doesn’t hide the fact tigers had double the tackles in the raiders quarter and created NOTHING. That’s what lost the game and has lost most games this year. No footy IQ. Last night no set up for final field goal - WHY
Overlap on the final play - turn it back in - WHY
NO ONE ON THE FIELD HAS ANY IDEA
Can’t question the effort always there but tigers need to find a footy brain on the field
DCE, HUNT, REYNOLDS, but they are in short supply

It wasn't a legitimate penalty you idiot. Ice Made an effort to charge down the kick but did not tackle the player. Did you watch the game doofus?
Mature response.
The rule is black and white. He made contact with the legs of the kicker. Not sure how you could think otherwise tbh.

Two weeks ago we played direct at speed and executed.
The conditions last night were different to two weeks ago. It was damp last night. The ball movement to the edges is slower and easier to defend. Canberra’s game plan was superior. Great kick chase, wait for errors, grabbers to the in goal. We were out coached and out enthusied last night.

We had 8 set restarts. 5 were on the first tackle and 2 were on tackle 0.

It's pretty clear the ref wanted to cover up his obvious bias by handing us set restarts, except they were no advantage at all. If you watch the replay, the Raiders players were doing much worse in terms of slowing down the ruck and holding down the player when we were struggling out of our own end but the ref did not dare to blow a whistle for a penalty. However, whenever we crossed the 40m line and into the oppositions end he gave set restarts early in the tackle count like they were nothing. Very obvious what the ref was doing and pretty sure this whole thing was a rort from the moment the captains challenge went against us

You have to play to the conditions but we regressed to habits in attack from the first 7 weeks of the season last night.

Cowboys game was a fluke.:
One of Our players in a post-game interview after the Cowboys match said Everything went their way during the game.
So...if WT had all the luck and the Cowboys had none it was easy for Us to get on a roll which instilled confidence and easy points.
But We aren't so good when We have to fight under pressure, Our confidence falls apart, Our Teamwork suffers, and Our attack becomes next to nonexistent.

Lots on here have already mentioned Sutton's officiating. Credit to Raiders and Fairfax Ricky for being able to cop a $10,000 fine every 4 weeks for calling out rubbish and inconsistent calls.

3 kick trys is just luck. We never had a chance for quick play the balls into overlaps until the sin bin.

Shame we threw our challenge away early. some 2nd half challenges would have beem major momentum shifts for us.

Revenge on the Raiders locked in for round 23. Coaching staff need to be in the headlines in the week leading up, lot's of well worded comments along the lines of "we would hope to see fair officiating" etc.

We will keep building. Any side playing against our full strength should be concerned.
