Problem is it’s only Friday and I don’t wanna watch anymore NRL this wk’end after seeing the Tiges last nite…

And that B----D that hit Api with the forearm did it again twice and not pinged by the ref, we lose Api ref puts him on report for a forearm to the chin, but?,

BUT WE HAVE TO DEFINATELY LET BROOKS. TALOU. WAKEHAM. NOFO. AND SIMPKIN IS PRETTY BAD AS WELL.

Tbh if Staines signs with Parra for next year and realistically can only play 4-6 games after injury this year why wouldn’t we cut him asap?

Because our club is and has always struggled to attract decent players,we need to be seen as a desirable club to want to come to and just casting off a player mid season is not the way i would want to be treated if i was a good player.This attitude of getting rid of players who may not want to leave is very counterproductive imho especially after other players have been treated like this in the past,Joffa was the last player we did it to and it is very poor as far as i am concerned because how can you expect any loyalty from a player when you treat them in such a cavalier fassion,It is not the way to build a good culture at the club

it goes back to the decision to release Big Joe..

The Management must have been thinking that things were going too well… and the players were starting to get some confidence and combinations together..

it’s like they deliberately did this to detail the team

I got a great idea , why not have a fire sale and sell everyone , really getting sick of this shit sign players , or give them new contracts then tell them there not wanted , can’t see how we are going to get out of this mess , the 5-6 class players are shortly going to realise nothing happening here and will look to leave , and I don’t blame them , players out every other week and no one coming in great system management

looks like parramatta are chasing Charlie Staines before 1 August deadline, likely to play fullback gutho to 6. Decent contingency in case brown gets rubbed out long term I guess

I'm struggling to understand why we'd even consider releasing Staines. What difference does an extra 150k in the cap make when we're already flush with funds and can't sign anyone? We shouldn't be doing Parra scum any favours as they certainly wouldn't oblige us.

if he doesn't sign or we don't want him for next year why not though and put the cash towards Brooks 2024 deal or upgrading bula etc

We want him. He'd be a great longer term signing for us but he isn't going to be our fullback and he is going to be out injured for a while. He can sign with another club now. Our season is also over.

We haven't signed anyone since Bateman, but we've released Maumalo and Ofahengaue

The only way id be letting Staines go is if they gave us a half in return ie Sanders, if the rumour is true and we're after him its there to be done. Anyway i cant see the reason in it seeing as though Staines is many weeks away from returning Laurie makes more sense, other than Sanders our way id tell them to go jump in the Parramatta river.

100% agree to a point. Releasing players shouldn’t be regular unless we gain an advantage.

Joffa yes agree especially after we just resigned him and hands down was our best player last year whilst having no one inbound signed on.

Staines though joined for 1yr is out injured for a while if he signs with another club for next year whats the fuss in letting him go early. I don’t see much benefit in holding onto him for a handful of games if he gets back on the park from injury anyway this year.

I posted on the Bula thread that offloading players to retain the cream of our best - Bula, Tupou, Pole and Utoikamanu and head off the approaches certain to come from the stronger clubs is fine. I like Ofahengaue but Bateman did all of his work plus a whole lot more last night.

Agree, good teams don't do this as regularly as us.

I'm not sure Bateman can continue playing 80 minutes in the middle. It's a big ask.
