Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think we’d all like to see that, not saying Brooks will lead us to a GF, but given the current options keeping him and going hard for a true half would, in my opinion, be our best bet. Our club hasn’t been able to attract 1 decent half let alone two. Sign him on a two year deal and if we find someone better early, play Brooks off the bench or reserves, god know we have plenty of cap space to carry him for a year. What happens if we let Brooks go and we can’t sign anyone else?

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.
dont agree with this

we never made a play for hynes or reynolds because we had brooks

whilst we have him -- for another 2 or 3 years we wont look elsewhere

we are better off just cutting him and then waiting for someone to become disgruntled or some kid has a blinder at the start of the season next year in reserve grade and offer him money to come with a transfer fee to break tot he contrac tlike bulldogs did with the broncos kid...

we need to let brooks go.....

its done...

trust me -- if he's here we wont be looking

even though there is no one else around -- that is right now -- things always change -- and we'll become hungry to find someone --- and i would prefer to come last next year wihtout brooks and have the chacne to sign someone great -- then come 14th with brooks -- because we are never going to win a comp or make teh 8 with him

its done

I’d like Hunt but seems incredibly unlikely. I really hope we go after Pezet he’s my preference for someone who’s only played like 4 games he looks classy and composed even the commentators last night were expressing Pezet should leave as he won’t get any regular opportunities - personally think he’s Hynes 2.0 out of Melbourne.

But something is telling me Sheens is looking at Lewis Dodd, it’s obvious Sheens has something for the super league and is very respected in those circles and pretty much admitted that we’re looking at English halves. Dodd also just signed an NRL leading agent and is apparently open to giving the NRL a crack - I think he might be the one we’re looking at but that’s just an assumption. Has the Welsby hype died down also wasn’t he a big chance to come to the NRL. Behind our pack Dodd could do pretty well.

For me though I’ve made it clear the direction should be Pezet and Fainu…..

look on the bright side Vicious,Bateman made a strong indication he may not see his contract out ,unsure whether he was being a smart rc or not,he is doing better than me anticipated

The only way he won’t see out his contract is if he retires as no other club will sign him.
As others have mentioned above, well established high profile regular starting NRL players will refuse to play for Wests Tigers in our current predicament.
The young up and comers will also no doubt be hesitant, but if they have no clear path to playing regular NRL anytime soon and we offer them that opportunity and also pay them on potential, the big money and NRL opportunity might sway them and entice them to try and break their contracts early.
Hence my point we cannot afford to pay big money for players in other positions who are not cutting edge players that cannot win us games with devastating ball running.
Yes you need a certain element of hard working players in the team, but they are not the ones who command big money contracts.

All these people saying "Hunt won't come to the Tigers", how do we know if we don't try? Gotta have a go and he is the best halfback who might be available. The worst thing that can happen is he says no.

Personally I would have been going hard after Averillo as he is one of the best outside backs available for next year, and can cover fullback and halves in a pinch.
no no and NO.

We don't go for the "best halfback available?"

Long term son, Long term. Or longer term then "stop gap big pay halfback that will hide our development gaps". Sure if say a Johnson or a Pearce becomes available for 1 year and we have a vacancy, we can do it.

We need a PLAN. no more stop gaps.

It’s strange you read that comment on Hunt re wants to go to a contender but then he gets linked to the Bulldogs & Titans - Bulldogs won’t be contenders next season & maybe Titans could be if they can stabilize their combinations but they need more than Hunt to have a good crack.
I reckon the Gold coast will be Hunt just wanting to get back to Queensland.

Suspect he will tap Bennett, then Kev. Probably settling on the Gold Coast when they say no.

Trying to work out where the Gold coast fit him and Kieran Foran... Guessing it's becoming a retirement village.

Honestly didn't see much special there.
Just thought I’d post something as recent as today, wasn’t a stand out performance by all means.

He also did run the ball for 15 runs 150 meters, 5 tackle breaks, 2 offloads, 1 try and 1 try assist

I saw some good qualities, he runs the ball very well and quite agile for his size, he support played well to score that try which we’ve seemed to lack from our halves and had some work to do as well to get over as well.

probably sell his soul to get back where the Mrs wants

Princey reckoned he was under pressure from the Missus - but I'm pretty sure the new free house that Searley built them was the real reason!
Searl was a blight on the game and put the kubosh on any hope of the manly North s merger working on the Central coast

Im 77 years old, dont think I can wait another 10 years for brooks to improve sufficiently to steer our team into a semi series,
Already waited 10.
I am an old Balmain Tiger boy. Only seen my team win in 1969 then as West Tigers in 2005.

AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANOTHER BEFORE MY TIME RUNS OUT.

BUT CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME SEE THAT HAPPENING WITH LUKE BROOKS STILL IN THE TEAM.
LOOK AT LETS SAY THE COWBOYS HALF TOM DEARDON, HE SCORES TRIES, HE BREAKS THE LINE AND HE KICKS GOALS, AND HE BACKS UP.

OFFER HIM SOME DECENT $$$$$.

HE DOES MORE IN ONE GAME THAN LUKE DOES IN 10 GAMES.
I hate to say this Dennisspicer1 and I dont want to depress you, but I doubt You and I will see a repeat of 2005.
