if you want to hear my conspiracy theory, Fulton was brought in as a measure to keep the vast majority of our youngsters, as he has a great relationship with Tartak. Tartak subsequently manages a number of our gun juniors, namely the cream of the crop from our undefeated Matts side from '22 (Da Silva, the Laulili'i's, William Craig, Miller and a few others). Not really across Manly lower grade talent but Scott Fulton's job has to involve much more than attempting to recruit kids from one source.
Fulton being brought in was a measure to keep Tartak onside and to ensure we don't lose any of the kids. the Fainu's are merely a bonus, as is Haumole if the rumours are to be believed. this appointment was made to ensure that we maintain our mantra of being a 'development club' irrespective of how much of an issue it was going to be with Marshall, Sheens and McDonnell.
now while Fulton has a number of very good relationships with a stack of managers in the league, the press, north-west Sydney and a number of players, it reeks of Joe Webhe / Isaac Moses circa-2016.
you can look at it from two ways. one is that Hagipantelis, the board and Pascoe have managed to be proactive to ensure that we retain our gems. the other is that they have succumbed to player manager pressure and have created considerable internal conflict. you decide.
