We have to live with it’: Sheens frustrated about Brooks’ Manly exit

Remind me to conduct your next performance appraisal from only 6 weeks of data.
All the talk how half of Manly would follow him. Where is one? Josh Shuester was supposedly so close to Fulton yet it's not happening. I think the hype behind Fulton is overblown. He is the son of a great not Bozo himself.
I feel it's another dud acquisition and right in line with our system of failures.

It is too early to say if Fulton is a failure or not but it is fair to say our season has not improved since he arrived yet.Hopefully something positive is in the pipeline because we can't afford for this shambles to continue

That’s just an assumption based on hype.
If a player is comfortable at a club it is not easy to move. They don’t move to rub shoulders with the recruitment officer every day
It’s a bit early to label him a dud imo as other factors such as coach may have a different opinion on who’s attainable
I do think he’s overhyped because I don’t know the name of any recruiting member from any other team apart from Noel cleal who retired I think

Our future is through the juniors and he is reportedly very good at recruiting younger players especially from western Sydney. We need to get ahead of the Storm, Roosters etc and acquire the best talent. I will take every advantage we can possibly get at this stage. In terms of Schuster, wasn't there an article or piece which advised Marshall did not want him to be recruited?

I'm a little disappointed as I think this is an opportunity for a circuit breaker while we are at rock bottom (wooden spooners, last, no halfback). I wish he'd stop being the nice guy and turn on those who have gone and created more drama at the club just as we were turning a bit of a corner.

Ben Hunt didn't shy away from his frustration at the Dragons and I think it will have an immediate impact.
Brooksie was in a lose/lose situation, and it must have been a very difficult decision to make, should I stay or should I go 🤔.
He wanted to be a one club player, but if he stayed, he'd have more endless crap put on him.
On the other hand, if he goes and leaves WT's, he'd stand the chance of being crapped on from a great height for leaving us in a desperate situation.
I believe he made the correct decision for Luke Brooks, and I wish him all the best.
I hope his dreams of finals footy are finally realized, even though it will be with Manly 🙁.

One that he should try to pry away from the Sea Eagles is 17yo prop Simione Laiafi who is from the Bankstown area. Playing in the CHS at the schools champs this coming week. In the top 50 schoolboys to watch.

"but is clearly frustrated the club had botched the chance to make Luke Brooks a one-club player."

Mate, the majority of the fan base has been frustrated for 10 years seeing Brooks basically doing bugger all, especially this year with a pretty good forward pack.

The club made a good decision.
I did a poll.
80%+ of people on this forum would not want Brooks resigned at 700k for 4 years. I think that says it all.

Re hashing of the appt of Fulton without informing Sheens and Benji.
Pascoe and Lee H - the instigators of the drama
💯 correct Tt.
How can any club be successful on the field when the off-field organisers aren't talking to each other and agreeing before those crucial decisions are made.
My mind just boggles at how bloody pathetic Pascoe and Hagispanties seem to be with their communication.
For goodness sake, Hagispanties is a high falutin lawyer where a big part of his job is good communication.
So why does he put his mouth into gear before he puts his brain into action re. WT's.

As if you’d believe anything Sheens says.
We’ve been chasing a halfback the entire year… Brooks was never going to be the main bloke here.
To prove how stupid he is Sheens thought he’d have no trouble getting someone of note. Without considering that plan might fail, or allowing for possible injuries, he jettisoned all remaining stocks of ‘real’ halfbacks and left us stuck in a hole.
Now it’s up to Fulton to save us…. hopefully.
He jettisoned all stock of real Halfbacks??

???

What real halfbacks did we have? Madden? Doueihi? Will Smith??

Sheens, for his faults is doing the exact right thing. Getting rid of the Fringe Grade. Fulton knows what halfbacks Manly are hiding.

I am glad Sheens/Marshall and Fulton are having this conflict. We are seeing some very dumb decisions getting thrown out and we will be left with a better team at the end.

The only poll which counts is market forces. The market has spoken and whether you like him as a 6 or 7, the market rates him far more highly than 80% of supporters on the forum. It is no secret I have a high regard for him and wanted him retained. But the thought of being involved in a protracted negotiation with his manager (who represents his client's very well) was not an outcome I wanted for WTs. The only downside to this is what contingency does the club have? We know Sheens wanted him retained.

I don't know what Tim is mad about.

Since Brooks signed the contract, he's asked for a release twice, went on record last year to say he's going to be selfish next contract, declined the initial offer without a contest offer (indicating he won't be here).

Tim is just deflecting here. The issue is that he promised in the media that Brooks is the future and 1.5 years of Tim in this club has Brooks going backwards not forwards.

He should accept that he couldn't get the best out of Brooks, we couldn't make him happy just like Dragons aren't able to make Hunt happy.

Anyway Sheens is making it sound like we let go of the next Thurston so that he can justify a third wooden spoon next year.

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

I hope we can get him. An influx of talent like the Eagles enjoy will do wonders on top of the highly talented young players we now have.

Again

were 17th. Sheens has lost the right to pick his own people and his own side. While I note that Sheens unlike Madge won't keep doing the same thing when it fails, we clearly lack that development in defense which is a massive issue for our side.

He personally got rid of Hastings and Madden...both actual halfbacks .
Replaced them with Wakeham who is definately a 'fringe'.
Whether you consider the first two 'fringe' or not we needed backups and Sheenius obviously thought they'd come knocking to be coached by him.
I agree wholeheartedly that we need the friction.
Hopefully sanity prevails.

Fulton is a smart move , Sheens is proving he can’t attract players we need at present , and his mate was chasing them , give Fulton a go / 12 months min to see who we jag , Brooks was not a world beater , we can recover and we will

Whose talk was that? Media speculation? If that's what you are referring to you've been duped.

Sorry but I'm not going to miss him. There are not enough games in the next 10 years that could make me forget his tenure here at WT. I couldn't care less if he has found some form after an 8 year hiatus. Too little too late for me
