Sheens has kept seyfath and talau in the 19 and left out James and matamua so much for looking ahead to next year .As Rex would say I'm flabbergasted
 
Maybe it's so that they get game time. That's probably more important to them if he intends to blood them in the coming weeks. If Talau is leaving then who cares.

Mate rip a few bongs and along with the wines and you'll get even more emotive. Some of my best posts about Luke Brooks have come while inebriated.

Sheens lost the plot 12 years ago when he selected Chris Lawrence at 6, had Chris Heighington running straight at the markers, said he'd resign if he missed the finals, got rid of Gibbs, Beau, and Heighno, tried to make Benji a halfback, etc.

The man has had so many cooked ideas over the years. But you know what, I'd rather that than what Madge served up. Madge waffled on about how the group "is better than this", and "they know what is expected of them", yet he never tried anything different. At least Sheens is trying things. Madge ran the same plays and boring football style for 3 years without even attempting to adapt to the metagame. He thought we could simply out compete the other team even though we were physically and skill-wise outmatched.

It was obvious in 2012 that the NRL had left him behind which is why he was sacked when he refused to be moved to Director of Football(or equivalent) which is what he would be good for.What we are getting this year is more of the same because some people have forgotten what a disaster he was both on this forum and in our management and on the board.I still find it amazing that the Muppets who run our club would take the advice of an alcoholic from News Ltd who was at a boozy lunch with at our club function(Rothfield)

I never saw Souths players improve under Madge. Back then, they won a comp due to the power of their pack with multiple rampaging Burgi. But, even then, the giant Burgi were notorious for having bad hands, which only improved with Siebold and Bennett. And you didn't hear much about Reyno or Walker - they only gained prominence after Madge left.

Madge's inability to develop and improve players plus Cleary's terrible buys sent us to the cellar. Remember the video, showing how Madge pushed players to ride their emotions as hard as possible all the time. All he managed to do was burn out Doowee (sick of copying and pasting his name) and win us a spoon. The board needs to take responsibility too because they retained Madge after a terrible year ended with a thrashing by the years' spooners, the Dogs, 38-0. That was nuts. What did the Board expect after that? Well, we won the spoon, to almost no one's surprise.

If Slater was Tigers' coach, he would have used the time and effort that Maguire spent on emotionality and a promo movie on studying video of players and finding ways for the team to improve. At least Sheens develops players, although probably not as well as Bellamy, Robinson, Bennett, Arthurs, Cleary or the new bloke at the Warriors.

Every team that wins the comp does so on the back of a good/ great roster.
The leaders at the club are responsible for the position we are in due to previous years of infighting and poor management, that we have never been able to recover from. In a competitive Sydney market for players - we are close to the bottom of the barrel and no coach can be held accountable for that they are just the victims of it.
 
Reality is we have the lowest win rate with 3 games from 14.

We are 6 games behind the 8 already, we are 1 behind the Dragons and 2 behind the Bulldogs/Knights all of which have looked terrible most the year.

If Sheens still thinks we can play finals he is absolutely dreaming. At this stage we will struggling to avoid getting a 2nd spoon by a clear margin.

Mind games talking about not giving up on finals... Easier to deny failure with the "talking positive psychology against all odds"
 
Sheens had been out of the NRL for many years and failed with most English clubs, so this is not surprising at all.

The frustration and anger IMO shouldn’t be aimed at him, and should be directed at the dysfunctional board and CEO who have put him here and overseen stuff up after stuff up.

We are heavily targeted by the media but we always seem to give them ammunition.

Yep that’s the reality alright. It would be nice to jag a win or two, while the Dragons are still imploding, to avoid a second spoon - that’s where we are. I do believe in miracles, but any talk of playing finals at this stage of the season is a bit ridiculous. We’re just not playing well enough to win every remaining game and that’s what it would take to get there.

You make a good point about the endless infighting but a good coach should still be able to improve the players in the roster. Even if our head office remains a basket case, we need to at least see our players improving their skills and judgement on field, even if they are not making the semis. That's how we won 2005. Not by buying top players, good strategies or even a good selection policy, just training promising young players well so they individually become better players.
 
I really don’t think sheen’s is doing all that much coaching apart from directing Benji
He’s not geared up on game day
Says benji runs the attack
Probably just overseas training putting a word here and there .
Haven’t seen footage of pregame and mid game chat so don’t know
Probably his main job is to handle the press
