Wests Tigers Coaches

While I agree with most of what you said, I can’t see any change of the current ownership/board/management structure.
I think what we’re looking for is the Coaches/Players addressing the issues and changing their style, it’s called good old fashioned hard slog and mateship.
The best teams have it in spades but sometimes our guys look like they’ve never seen their teammates.
Remember that old saying “ the harder I work, the luckier I get”.
I like your input Hal and in my opinion since our JV started we seem to be more and more involved in the politics of this venture rather than being a great football club and team..
They seem to respect nepotism and looking after club icons and friends rather than getting professional about winning games and making the finals....just my thoughts mate...

WT previously sacked Sheens years ago. He failed in the Super League. At 72 years old is he really the best we could get? Was any due diligence done by the Board this time around? I say no.

Yes Marshall and Farah are club legends but they really need to do a long stint as coaches in lower grades to gain experience and qualifications Only WT would give two complete L Platers the keys to the club.
Idiots.

All great coaches including Bellamy and Robinson did a number of years apprenticeship in lower grades and learnt under master coaches before being given their NRL Coaches positions.

And we wonder why the Wooden Spoon won in 2022 (4 wins) will be retained in 2023 (At this stage I can't see many wins)

I would be happy if we did have some sort of game plan and structure and someone to give the team direction.

Can we given 1.5 million to Cooper Cronk to come out of retirement to run the show?

I feel sorry for Paps and Api who have come to WT to ruin their careers. I bet they wished they stayed at Eels and Panthers now.

First up I’m a Madge supporter, I thought we needed to go thru the pain to head in the right direction.
Madge was knifed because he wasn’t a development coach (???)
Madge ball for 5 hit ups and a kick (you need the cattle to do much more)
Madge couldn’t attract players (API and Ice both came because of Madge and until this season our cap was screwed).

Now our leaders failed to have a back up plan once they sacked Madge and Ciraldo knocked us back.

Enter the Hail Mary 5 year Sheens/Benji plan

Sheens burnt 2022 with loaned/released players and putting novice Noddy in charge.
Sheens said he was was getting an early start on preparations for 2023. That’s worked well.
Sheens didn’t see Hastings as what we needed (I was also a Hastings fan he provided the footy smarts we lacked and continue to lack) and put all his eggs in the Moses basket and we were played again like Ciraldo.
Sheens got Klemmer and Bateman (2 good signings), but we still have $$$$ and no one wants to come ( maybe it wasn’t just Madge)
Then desperately chased Pearce

All I have seen from the current leadership admin and football is continued failure and inept decision making.

Sadly buckle up for continued disappointment with these ‘leaders’.

After today's 3 matches it seem that every team this year has something to offer in the way of entertainment. The talent seems to be spread fairly well amongst every team resulting in the very reasonable possibility of the bottom running teams beating the top teams which makes top listening or viewing.
And then there's Wests Tigers.
What a pathetic joke we've been so far this year and I really cant see it getting better any time soon 😡

All I can say on the coaching side of this club is it is all garbage and more jobs for the ICONS that won a GF 18 bloody years ago...
Sheens may HAVE been a good coach many years ago,but Bennett who is about the same age, recruited a team of mostly has beens and has won games this year, their debut year when all and sundry laughed at them...HOW ARE WE GOING with great recruits, talented youth and 0 points because of no wins,,,Newy were tipped to be below us and almost beat the Riff,we couldnt beat them or any other team atm...
When you give an ex player who was great in his days a 5 year coaching deal WITH NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE in coaching,we are nothing but a jobs for the boys club and we have to except that,we are a basket case and I will stick with them because Im a Tiger through and through, but I no longer have the passion, enthusiasm or belief I used to have because of unprofessional politics in a sport that should be loved by youth and older players like me that would pull on the boots after playing a game in ressies and they were short in firsts and needed reserves to make up the team...I encourage the kids to follow the mighty WTs ...all I get is laughed at and mocked, but thats life,I can always go back to playing golf on game day and spare myself the embarassment....

I don’t think sheens will be here in 3 years time. The board has just provided a buffer between them and decisions being made. If it fails blame sheens (not the board). Very disappointing decisions been made so far, sacking coach without a replacement, releasing players with no depth and telling the world we have a single coach in mind etc etc.
only time will tell The outcome
I think the outcome is crystal clear after tonite. Sheens and Benji are NOT the answer, no matter how they spin their efforts and decisions to date.

Marshall: Why Wests Tigers are ready to rise.

Benji Marshall has implored Wests Tigers fans to 'stick with us' after speaking passionately about the new era dawning at Concord.

Stepping into a new role as Wests Tigers assistant coach under Tim Sheens in 2023, the 37-year-old said a long-term revival is on the horizon at the western Sydney club, with a new-look side ready to rise from the wooden spoon.
“It’s been a tough ten or so years from a club point of view,” Marshall told Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe in a club video.

“We are doing everything we can at training from a team perspective to make sure we change that. But good things are coming from us.

After Justin Matamua, one of the club’s most exciting teenage prospects was fast-tracked into the Wests Tigers top 30 on Wednesday, the 346-game veteran said the club’s revival plan begins with their investment in junior developments and pathways.

Marshall even admitted Sheens has tipped the next generation of Wests Tigers to boast more talent than the side the 72-year-old coached to claim the club’s last premiership in 2005.
With only one spot remaining in their Top 30 roster, Sheens is set to field an unrecognisable side to that of which finished bottom of the ladder this year.
New signings Charlie Staines, Api Koroisau, Isaiah Papali’I and, most recently David Klemmer all expected to don their new colours in Round 1 and Marshall said the first challenge as coaches will be to unite the new-look Wests Tigers outfit.
keen group of guys who are fresh and hungry and I guess our job is to bring out the best in them.

"One thing that I want everyone to understand at this club is when you put on the Wests Tigers jumper, you are representing a lot of people,” he said. “You are playing for the guy next to you and all everyone wants to see is their players play with passion, with pride and put in their best performance week in and week out.”
train.

"Sometimes I can’t explain a drill out on the field, but I can definitely get out and show them," he said. "I like getting my hands on the ball and sometimes showing the young fellas that the old fellas still got it."

Well said Benji, pity nothing has changed

Was never a fan of Benji or Sheens taking over and look at the tripe they have dished up over this season.
Attacking structure and game plan has been non-existent.
I dont know how you turn around a club who has incept management at all levels from the top to coaching staff.
Who do you sack first - Chairman/CEO or Sheens/Benji???

Well, in most organisations the buck stops at the top, so my order of termination
would be;
Lee
Pascoe
Sheens
Benji
Robbie
Furner
Action plan
1.Let the board pick a new chairman ( Joe Cool perhaps)
2.Recruit a new CEO
3.Recruit a new coaching team
4.Fulton builds us a viable NRL squad

In other words, clear the decks and start again,
I know we have partially done it before but not totally as I’m suggesting.

I would agree - new chairman, new CEO comes in and then gets rid of Sheens and Benji also.....seen it happen in plenty of organizations.
We now have to sit through another week of crap from the media. They must be licking their lips with all content they can create from this mess.

But does Lee play the Brydens sponsorship deal as his ace card to keep his position , ie if I go so do all sponsorship dollars.
And I’m guessing the board wouldn’t have the combined chutzpah to say “ take your sponsorship and go “.
As a matter of fact I’m not sure why Brydens would want to be associated with such a poorly run and uncompetitive outfit.
