Wests Tigers Coaches

As a customer / supporter of the club, I don't (And have never) felt like they owed me a personal explanation for anything on field really - Doesn't mean I agree with it, Or like it - But I am a customer, I don't own the joint.
I've certainly asked questions around sponsorship and membership validation in the past, But outside that - I have no say in anything they do with staff or squad, Nor do I require an explanation.
I get where you are coming from and I don't want to hear about back office goings-on, nor do I want player negotiations broadcast, but I think there is justification in the expectation of fans, that in certain circumstances, they are owed explanations - especially in trying times.

Fans are the lifeblood and identity of a club, we are not just customers. This is not a transactional relationship. Perhaps that's where the club and NRL have got it so wrong.

We are people who turn up and support, with our families through ups and downs, we pay membership, invest weekends, brainwash our kids 😊, parade around in the colours, adore the club notwithstanding any results, dream of success - all while foregoing any other alternative. You can't buy customers like this.
And if any organisation did have such devoted, lifelong customers, and ceased to inform them as to their intentions re future plans or a change in direction, then they would be wholly unworthy of such unwavering dedication and support.

Just to be clear, every player, manager and employee of the club owe their position to the fans. If the team had no supporters, then the club and its employees would simply cease to exist.

These are desperately trying times and you wouldn't blame any Tigers fan for switching off. In this sense, it is incumbent on our management to do whatever they can to retain this loyal band of supporters. If some of our own fans feel they are being treated with contempt (lifelong supporters), then their appeals for greater communication are arguably justified.

I'm not here casting judgement re any of the communication of the Tigers management. For some it is satisfactory, for others it isn't. You will never please everybody.
I'm simply disagreeing with the point that fans do not deserve an explanation.

I think it's part of the fun to make up your own mind to why they make decisions like this.

And this one may be because of a number of reasons such as he thinks Brooks is better for the team and can be a better player than Hastings. And it's time for Brooks to finally deliver on that potential we have been waiting for. Also, its obvious Benji feels he can make Brooks the player to he of quality.

Benji couldn't even make himself that player and he was several levels higher in skill.

Cherry hates him, Barrett hates him, Bateman hates him, and now you are saying the club dont like him.

What is he doing so wrong to get everyone offside?

Cherry and Bateman cme across as ultra competitive themselves so I dont see that as the reason.
I swear its his anti fleshlight stance. Doesnt go down well around this club

@batboy fair response.
What would you be doing if it wasn't for this?
Tbh I could be doing anything else that wouldn’t give me anxiety and a migraine. 😆
What's that feeling when we beat the Dragons in 05
Low blow! ☺️
That game was the best feeling sport has ever given me. Being there live was an out of body experience. Better than the GF a week later and for me I dare say better than being in Istanbul for the Liverpool miracle.
They're there for us, Entertaining us, inspiring us,
I don’t feel they are (many dont) and for years they have neither entertained or inspired.

Batboy this is the place us fans come to vent and lament together. I wasn’t suggesting the club owe us a premiership or anything. I don’t think the OP was either.
Simply put, from my perspective anyway, a transfer decision like this which doesn’t seem to make sense, can easily send you in a spin, and have you questioning the ambition of management.
So it’s only natural that our most nailed-on fans are frustrated and desperate to understand.
Personally, I don’t need answers - it won’t change anything, but because I have also been floored by the transfer, I feel that guys pain.

If Tim Sheens is so sure that Brooks can run the team better then Hastings than why doesn't he get ask the boss or whatever and tell us why. This club treats us like mushrooms they keep us in the dark and feed us you know what..It's about time they started giving us some information about why they do things
Old Maggie, I understand you frustration, but please put yourself in his shoes. The media loves gossip, it's how they keep their jobs. Sheens had quite openly said Brooks was going to be the 7 in 2023. At the end of last year most people thought lock was his position. Sheens thinks Hastings is a lock as well, and told him so,. As is the coaches perogative and his job'. Hastings did not want to play lock, probably thought it would shorten his career, owing to previous leg injuries.
Newcastle wanted a half , that half was Brooks. Brooks stayed with the Tigers , Hastings was approached by newcastle, who took the job.
HAPPY ENDING FOR THE TIGERS AND HASTINGS.
PS- ONLY A FOOL WOULD EXPECT THE COACH TO TELL THE FANS WHAT HE THINKS !

Marshall: Why Wests Tigers are ready to rise.

Benji Marshall has implored Wests Tigers fans to 'stick with us' after speaking passionately about the new era dawning at Concord.

Stepping into a new role as Wests Tigers assistant coach under Tim Sheens in 2023, the 37-year-old said a long-term revival is on the horizon at the western Sydney club, with a new-look side ready to rise from the wooden spoon.
“It’s been a tough ten or so years from a club point of view,” Marshall told Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe in a club video.

“We are doing everything we can at training from a team perspective to make sure we change that. But good things are coming from us.

After Justin Matamua, one of the club’s most exciting teenage prospects was fast-tracked into the Wests Tigers top 30 on Wednesday, the 346-game veteran said the club’s revival plan begins with their investment in junior developments and pathways.

Marshall even admitted Sheens has tipped the next generation of Wests Tigers to boast more talent than the side the 72-year-old coached to claim the club’s last premiership in 2005.
With only one spot remaining in their Top 30 roster, Sheens is set to field an unrecognisable side to that of which finished bottom of the ladder this year.
New signings Charlie Staines, Api Koroisau, Isaiah Papali’I and, most recently David Klemmer all expected to don their new colours in Round 1 and Marshall said the first challenge as coaches will be to unite the new-look Wests Tigers outfit.
keen group of guys who are fresh and hungry and I guess our job is to bring out the best in them.

"One thing that I want everyone to understand at this club is when you put on the Wests Tigers jumper, you are representing a lot of people,” he said. “You are playing for the guy next to you and all everyone wants to see is their players play with passion, with pride and put in their best performance week in and week out.”
train.

"Sometimes I can’t explain a drill out on the field, but I can definitely get out and show them," he said. "I like getting my hands on the ball and sometimes showing the young fellas that the old fellas still got it."

Well I think Sheens will see out his 2 years (excuse - it’s a rebuild with juniors🙄) before handing on the poison chalice to Benji who will be sacked after 2 years ( reason - nothing has improved) . 2027 we will be looking for another new coach to start all over again and Lee and Pascoe will put a spin on it again.
I think I’ve reached complete disillusionment 😞
Well after 5 rounds I’m having doubts about sheens lasting out his 2 years and Benji even being the next cab off the rank. This club is LOST and needs to be privatised to effect real change or there needs to be management at arms length from Wests Ashfield.
The first step has to be no Wests and no Balmain , just Wests Tigers right down to junior teams.

While I agree with most of what you said, I can’t see any change of the current ownership/board/management structure.
I think what we’re looking for is the Coaches/Players addressing the issues and changing their style, it’s called good old fashioned hard slog and mateship.
The best teams have it in spades but sometimes our guys look like they’ve never seen their teammates.
Remember that old saying “ the harder I work, the luckier I get”.

Where I'm at with the coach is that Tim Sheens will never turn around the old heads in this team. The guys who have been here for more than two years those guys don't and won't respect a 70 yo man.

The kids however seem to be playing well for him.

The young kids respect him, our old players are not buying in.

The problem may actually be the core older players of this squad all being soft blocks.

Maybe they should be named and shamed and held accountable for not buying in
