We seem to be playing with the intent of limiting the damage, rather than a hunger to win. I can imagine how demoralizing it is when some are trying until the last minute of the game and others are simply going through the motions. And the latter may be to players having reached their potential, or simply already starting to think about the off season. Probably reaching the point now where, as a club, our primary focus has to be the retention of players we NEED to keep.
We are also lacking organization, direction in attack, a decent kicking game - even the most basic of game plans. But this not just last night, it has been there for some time.
It was always a matter of time, even at 12 all, before the Sharks were going to go up and gear, and when they did, it was all too easy. Sure we had a lot of "talent" out, but even so, their presence on the field would probably not made too much of a difference.
Effort was there, in parts, but even good intent can only get you so far.
A week is a long time in rugby league - another cliché from Gus - but when it becomes Ground Hog day for us supporters, then it is starting to look eternal.
PS - memo CH9...honestly...If I hear one more comment about "players eyebrows" or "Would Les Davidson have worn pink shoes at training"...Time to get with the times, boys...Or give up the gig...
