I think our management could be outmanoeuvred by most of the people on here.

Fairly simple...I do not like Rothfield at all, but he has literally called Gus a salary cap cheat and says he has all the proof.

Massive defamation case for Gus if not true.

If Gus does nothing...after being called a cheat...then that will say it all.

He would be a great addition. Genuine speed and can create.

Re Croft...very hard to tell. He does 'seem' to have matured and has been a great leader in the UK...close to best player there.

But...Brooks would also have been the best player there if he went same age. So, it is very hard to draw a formline.
 
Tigers Management really need to be showing something very quick , the shit show must stop and we should be seen as a club really looking to buy players , Sharks Trindal I would go so hard it’s not funny , then Taafe same again spend the money we can’t give away but just go balls deep in a couple players , no superstar is heading our way so go for second best and bring them on , isn’t that what coaches do, and we have plenty
Sheens , Benji , Robbie , Dave Furner , Heighno , Patty , Christ that should be enough , maybe we go get P Sterlo just to add , something , anything

I think 2012 felt worse than this - that was when our window closed, our best player left - and lead us here….
When they had us favourites…
None of those other years were fun…
2006 was crap - after reaching the peak to just fall in a heap again, and lose a heap of good players…

No one outside the revolutionists here gave us a chance this year - and here we are, with no chance…

We've had some awful years and i know things have been bad before, but I feel as though the club have been on a slow, downward spiral since 2017. The skies falling in vibe is cumulative effect of the number of embarrassments, beat downs and false dawns over such along period of time. Most arent viewing the disappointing 2023 season in isolation. There have been tiny successes and good moments over the last 5/6 years, but I honestly don't think you can begrudge fans the doom and gloom.

I had dreams of Us sneaking into the eight, just on the strength of Our forwards who would be setting the foundation for Brooks to be the player we wished him to be.

Lee H on tv tonight explaining how it all works...he is many things, but he knows the law and he always explains the cap...

Let's not be naïve here...we have a boss who won't break rules and never plead ignorance. Good traits.

And people wonder why shonky managers won't send us their players.

I came up with a list of off contract players that we should snap up ASAP. If we don't act fast, other clubs will get them before us. Since we are coming last, we will need to offer big money in order to attract them here.

Put em all in a big food processor/blender and you'd be lucky if 1 or 2 decent players come out the other end.

Let's say Rothfield is right...and clubs induce players with outside the cap extras.

Maybe that explains why we can't recruit...as we won't do it?

Wow I lived in Guildford and know it well I’m 58 so around the time you speak off , Diggers footy team , Granville south High School , lived there from
1964 till about 82 , then moved out Merrylands then west to St Clair when I got married

Well actually I thought 96-97 were the worst years, but not specific to Balmain. I genuinely thought rugby league might have died and I felt horrible about it, and I hated the teams that joined the Super League, and the stupid money being thrown around when we knew most clubs were broke. It killed my old club off.
