I believe that's correct and I agree with you. If you're forced to pay $9.5m (close enough) but can't get quality you have to pay average players more than average money. It's ridiculous.
 
I'd like Fainu.

I'm liking $800k a year a lot less.

You only make that deal if you are 100% certain this guy leads you out of the hole. If it brings his brother as well- this starts to balance out the investment.

Fainu does not give the club the experienced half that Sheens has repeatedly talked about. His signing is only half the solution. If they can get the Part 2 of the halves solution for $300-$400k...this starts to look a better deal.

Sheens looked real childish when he told the press conference media that he hasn’t been told anything about Talau going to Manly early - he was sooking big time - not a good look, I think he might be a control freak and is throwing his toys out of the cot.
Can’t believe he leaves Matamua out of the line up .. even though Seyfarth has pulled his finger out the past couple of games (finally) Matamua has far more to offer … I think Sheen has been a bit smug after extending Matamua - like he’s tied him up so he won’t be going anywhere but seriously this is why our promising players get the Jack and kick stones … Sheensy loves a Frankenstein project … memories of Daniel Fitzhenry anyone?

Samuela Fainu is pretty promising. Backrower. Kind of rangy. There's has been comparisons to Olukuatu, but for mine he's a little bit like Garner.

Latu Fainu is the prize. But who do you pair him with at a contract that doesn't hobble the club?

Sheens loves rescuing careers.

There's a kid at the Bulldogs that needs a chance, a home, and some support.

And probably fits that $300-$400k range.

Especially when the club that is letting them go also preferred bringing Brooks over for four years, rather than keeping a player already in their cap for two years.

Doesn't add up.

So is it 100% dead in the water or could there be a way around it? Seems a bit weird from the sharks keeping someone who wants away for an opportunity considering they have some gun young halves they've bought in also.
 
Another nice example of how the media now reflexively slant anything the Tigers. Bulldogs and Tigers in very similar positions. Bulldogs approach Holbrook - very shrewd way of supporting Ciraldo and giving an opportunity to recruit Tino and Fifita. Tigers approach Holbrook - sheens and benji had an all in knife fight against Pascoe and Fulton after Benji slept with Fulton's wife. Holbrook set to replace Benji as coach.
