Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’d say he didn’t pick Naden because every time he does he gets hurt (or suspended). If you watched reserve grade I’d say he was right.

Laurie then? And if you say he isnt a winger…then neither is AJ…

And at least Laurie has some pace… wouldn’t that make a nice change

I agree he can’t pick AJ again. I’d have him in reserve grade. He doesn’t have options though and it’s why I’m not slamming coaches on here. They never do.

The halves are much more concerning.

I don’t think you needed to be a Sheenius to see last offseason that lack of depth in the three quarters and halves was going to be an issue… but they decided to overkill on the forwards…

I don’t give Sheens a free pass for his part in this continued debacle

This club has a million bigger problems than a second rower who rips in every week.
Did you watch the Newcastle game, head down and not rippping in, yeah the club has a million problems, but signing a 4 year deal for a player that any team know what he does, name a player from another club that provides less, Kolomtangi, Jake T, Martin, Nikora, the list goes on.

Ray Hadley just defended Fulton on air, called for Sheens to be sacked and said Fulton should be allowed to buy whoever he wants and Benji should basically just accept it.

I agree with this approach. The coaching team should be responsible for coaching the team but recruitment should be via a different team. Sure the coaching team should have input but they shouldn't be managing all of those responsibilities.

I have no doubt his emphasis this off-season would have been the backs. Seems the club might struggle with that now with our new recruiting guy and Benji not speaking. Whoever disrupted this 5 year plan after 7 weeks needs to be moved on.

I find it amazing how the Warriors have overhauled their backline in one offseason with pretty much unwanted no names

Who was responsible for releasing Maumalo?

It's been poor roster management all round, particularly the halves.

Yeah, no good.

Sadly... neither are AJ, Naden and Talau.

Starford = hot and cold.
Nofo = depends what mood he's in.

Worst backline in the NRL.

Bula = Great prospect
Tupou = High cieling.
Starford is a victim of trying to do too much because of the lack of creativity around him in my opinion.

Would be a revelation with a creative five-eighth inside him.

Four internationals in their backline and one on the bench.

One is their halfback and they have one of the most dominant front rowers in the game.

They have over achieved this year but their squad is stronger than ours by a mile.

DWZ and Johnson were there last year when they were still struggling

Metcalf, Nicoll Klokstad aren’t bad pickups last offseason

No doubt they have improved but they were internationals so it’s obvious the potential is there. See Demps earlier post about our backs. Can’t turn water into wine.

Metcalf is an Australian?

Pompey and Berry unknowns before this year..

DWZ and Montoya have improved out of sight this season

You probably won’t want to hear this.. but their new coach ( Wests Tigers reject) might have had a hand in their improvement

I hear what you are stating but I don't see this as a massive issue or even close to it. The noise in the SMH about player managers contacting the club because they don't trust Benji and Sheens though to me is untenable.
If true - no argument. But maybe and it's just maybe, they are whinging because Benji and Sheens don't go for their shennanigans (still doesn't excuse them for their crud decisions and results this year though).

It's a fair point but I'll counter with stakeholder management with player managers is a critically important component of recruitment and retention. If they can't do that they shouldn't be in that role.
