Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Payne Hass will go to the highest bidder… if that’s us then I’d consider us a chance

I think he’ll end up in Rugby on a Suaalii type deal

One thing you gotta give Benji credit is he’s working tirelessly on recruitment - signing both Seizer and Latu Fainu for our halves issue is a great start but expect more.
He'll end up in Brisbane counting the dodgy money that kept him there.

But, as a center is he worth the money that has been mentioned in the last few weeks, likeIs $800.000 per season, bit much for a good center, maybe for a brilliant center.
Is he brilliant, I dont think so, I think he is a good 1.

Occasionally i think its ok to pay overs for a circuit breaker signing, I dunno if he's on $800k lets just assume he's on $700-750 i think thats ok for a centre who makes big plays in a game which he does.
With signing someone like Lomax you're more likely to attract other signings or be able to re sign your better players because they can see the direction in which the club is moving.
With the Fainu's on the way i think Seyfarth is pretty much gone Samuela will take his spot, Talau is going Brooks is going Laurie you would assume is off that 3 backs gone we have the money and space to make a couple of statement signings.
We tried the statement signings with Reynolds, Packer & Matulino they were a bust but this season we got Api, Klemmer and Bateman which i think have worked and made a statement time to start work on the backs and get them in line with the pack.

Rumours coming out thick and fast now boys. Latest mail from the dog park is Kaeo Weekes has been asked to find a new club and Scotty and Tartak are shopping him to Benji. I think this one will go through on account of Laurie leaving. Straight swap.
Is he any good?
Never heard of him
From Panthers?
Position?

Latu is a great get if true. But with Sezer only on a one-year deal, who is the half back in 2025? It smells as if Benji has a plan/something up his sleeve, but who could it be?
It smells like fulton has put benji in his place. 1 year deal for benjis guy. The one who has not played 1st grade gets 4...fultons guy. I think we know who won the secret meeting.
Benji is not even offically the coach when sezer is here. I find it strange the guy he wants he wont coach...

Manase was really really good. Wasn't massively built around the shoulders but had a very wide base and hit like a truck. Good instincts too often seemed to pop up in the right spot in support or a loose ball.
I know/have seen very little of Samuela, is he more of an edge or a middle forward? looks like a big lump of a lad whatever he is...
To me he is best on an edge, looked good in the NRL on the left edge

Just reported in DT that Benji is also going to have a red hot crack at landing Hass... can someone post full story please...
From the article:
"We have cap space and we have the money for a player of Payne Haas’ calibre.

His name would be floated at our list-management committee meetings, it would have to be.

It would be naive to think that a player of the calibre of Payne Haas would not be the subject of consideration internally.

I don’t partake in discussions at that level, so I can’t comment affirmatively, but I would be very surprised if Payne Haas’ name is not being raised internally, as you would expect it to be.

Payne would be an incredible addition to any roster, but whether Benji wants another middle, that’s for him and Tim Sheens to ultimately determine moving forward.

In my experience, generally when big-name players test the market, they tend to stay where they are.

Precedent tells us that the vast majority of these marquee players stay loyal.

Look at Cameron Munster, Mitchell Moses, Shaun Johnson and Kalyn Ponga.

It’s not often you see high-profile, marquee players move from club to club, but they are perfectly entitled to test their worth on the open market.

Payne Haas is a wonderful player, but the final decision will rest with Tim and Benji."

"Payne is a beast, he’s probably the best prop in the game with his motor and workrate.

He’s a monster and he’s the prop in the game I want to be like.

He is a big guy who leads by action and doesn’t say too much at training but on the field he runs so hard, and that’s what I want to build my game around."

"We’ve had interest from all 16 clubs.

He hasn’t had the chance to test his value, so we want to make sure his deal is fair on the open market and if it is, he will never complain in the future.

We can’t put a value on him, he is worth what any club will pay for him.

We just want transparency on his true value and Payne employs me, so he will make the final decision."
