The not-so-secret meeting that could solve the Tigers’ halves dilemma

Is this the moment Wests Tigers halves dramas are resolved?

At about 11am on Thursday, Jayden Sullivan, with his family and agent in tow, took a tour of the Wests Tigers’ COE.

That process began with a not-so-secret meeting at the Tigers’ headquarters at Concord.
Sullivan toured the facilities and met with Tigers powerbrokers as he pondered swapping one struggling joint-venture outfit for another. He met with Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe, chairman Lee Hagipantelis and recruiter Scott Fulton. Coach Tim Sheens and his successor, Benji Marshall, preparing the team for Friday’s clash with South Sydney in Tamworth, weren’t able to meet Sullivan personally.

However, Marshall gave his pitch via Zoom during Sullivan’s 90-minute tour of the facilities. A formal offer is expected to be tabled next week.
“It was a very positive meeting,” said Sullivan’s manager, Mario Tartak.

“Jayden’s excited about exploring his options and the Tigers made a good impression. He was blown away with their Centre of Excellence.”

Sullivan has almost certainly played his last game for the Red V. A hamstring issue has ended his season, the latest in a string of injury dramas that have limited the Wests Illawarra junior to just 27 games. The 21-year-old has shown glimpses of his potential during those appearances, although incoming Dragons coach Shane Flanagan is prepared to cut him loose. (SMH)

My only issue with everything is we might be making ourselves vulnerable by loading up on players from Tartaks stable. Just like Manly with Isaac Moses.

Sullivan is depth sigining , and could be a handy 14. Are we the right system and fit ? Who knows, I am not shaking the magic 8 ball. Don’t read the Fulton benji bullshit into it. Media hysteria, if we win more games wouldn’t be jawing on about.

I am a sad sack, tapping out until 24. Hopefully Pascoe and joe Pesci are gone, doubt it. Bye guys
Many have said it, few can do it.
We get a win and that's enough of a taste to draw you back in. Next thing you know you're buying a cap.

Alomoti aint that good, was just bigger then everyone else as a junior

Kelly was shopping himself around but apparently agreed to a new deal at the GC

I know Alamoti and his family pretty well - very very humble kid who works hard and doesn’t drink or do anything. All he does is train and wants to improve himself, he definitely has a winning mentality that you would want in your squad for someone his age.

Killed it in the juniors not just cause of his size but he’s actually quite quick on his feet and is hard to contain was a tackling busting machine from memory. He’s still only 19 so he’s only going to get bigger and more agile imo.

Only issue is defensively but I believe he can definitely clean up that area. He’s just still adapting to defending in the NRL and can get there overtime, I personally feel like he was rushed into the league and maybe needs more time in reserve grade or another pre-season. He has the talent for sure to be an elite NRL centre people forget about his age and just think juniors should adapt instantly when in reality it is quite challenging to make that switch so smoothly so quickly.

He’ll be cheap (which is surprising given his high wraps) and he’s in a position we need depth in quite significantly imo - I would definitely consider bringing him in on a cheap 2 year deal to see what he can do. Worth a crack… the perfect low risk high reward kinda signing imo.

Everyone all year has been saying he is slow.......

Doesn't set up his winger either.

I would rather Sullivan at 7 in KOE cup to fine tune his organising game. I feel playing 14 will be a detriment to his progression as a 7. A season purely playing halfback is what he needs.
The problem with Sullivan at 14 is that you can't play him as an Api sub so where does that leave TDS? It would be the smallest bench 4 ever with Sully & TDS.

Hard to say of its the player or the club system. He needs to go to an established club like Panthers.

I laugh how people keep saying “Fulton is against this signing”, or “ Fulton disagrees with Marshal on that player”…etc.
As recruitment manager, it is his job to provide advice on what’s out there, develop strong relationships with external stakeholders, I.e. player agents and recruitment managers from other clubs and act on the decisions made by the coach, delivering a targeted player.
He is not some oracle, certainly not some grand poobah who people approach with suggestions that he has the power to veto. He is a middle management resource at the disposal of the higher management head coach.
Of course he has a say and should be included in every discussion around recruitment and retention, however his opinions do not carry the weight that many attribute to them.
He may have connections within the media or the media are doing what they always do and write an article about our club waiting for our success starved fans to click. which we do, only to be disappointed by the dribble tabloid trash that only qualifies as journalism because it’s on a DT or SMH webpage.

He isn’t lightning quick in terms of pace but he has light feet with his stepping and tackle breaking ability.

Small things like setting up your winger can be taught. I guess I just see the potential and think a 2 year deal on min $ could be worth a go.

It's interesting feedback I've read on other forums and socials.

He was the future at the Dogs, then being mentioned as being told to look elsewhere.
