Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If we lose Staines, which seems likely... we need to fill even more backline positions.

Fullback is sorted and wherever Tupou will play with other positions all needing filling as I don't think AJ, Naden and Toa are reliable.

AJ has the size and speed, but seems to play lazy and generally looks disinterested.
If someone can switch him on he’d be more than handy.
Naden has the size, speed and ability, but like his whole career he’s injury prone and very rarely plays like he’s focused and interested.
To’a looks to be more consistent and have the most upside of the three of them.

like they do with Brooks....
There is only a handful of people who blame, or are obsessed with one or the other. Most accept that neither alone are the answer for any team. One was pushed out and landed in a team that's season is still alive and despite his limitations has made a contribution. The other has jumped to pursue the same opportunity. Neither experienced any level of success here that is not to say both may in stronger outfits.
In the end both failed to make a significant difference at this club, and as supporters finding players who can should be the aim instead of measuring one against the other.

We're all still talking about Poles' ball returns in second half against the Raiders....
- the 20 year old with less than 20 games under his belt...
We've apparently got one of the highest rated young props in the game, And a bloke who's played at the highest level on 850k a year....

I've barely seen either one bruise a grape all year.
We're currently paying Klemmer $400k this season & he's in the top 10 for average running metres by a Prop. He hasn't been in the greatest form as of late but was easily in our top 3 players first half of the season.

Except he was only ever bought as a lock....
Sheens was bragging about his size and what he'd add at 13 before either were even back in Australia.

Bought as a lock, played at lock - We're a better side with him at lock...
Didn't like it and left.
Fair enough. Did Sheens miscommunicate or did Hastings see a foot in the door thinking he could bend the expectations?

This makes the argument a lot stronger. I assume Sheens wanted to have Hastings in the middle with Brooks and Doueihi running a little wider.

Maybe Bateman hates Hastings with a passion and that was a reason they let him go but who knows.

I do know that Hastings is gone and Brooks is going and Doueihi is the worst performing player out of all three of them by miles and he is staying.

Just to add I'd retain Doueihi next season because I think it's the right thing to do. It's also a hail mary play that he comes good and sometimes those plays do come off. Maybe this time it will come off.
Why are we still talking about Hastings? There’s nothing to talk about. He doesn’t affect the results of our team in any way.

X factor in the super league doesn't convert to the NRL.
Great player and I rate him but I don't see him having the same impact on an NRL team as the same impact he had on Wigan
Your general assessment is correct, but French was a try scoring machine in the NRL before he left.

Has put on size and seems a more complete player. I doubt he’d be asking for huge money and I keep saying, the guys we sign don’t all need to be superstars. We need to fill our roster with competent players that can do a job if called upon. If he makes our team, I think he offers something. If he doesn’t, it means we have a better option and he is excellent depth for injury.
