Cricket Season Thread

Just reading about Poms refusing to have a traditional after series drink. I think it says a lot about them. Bazball may be innovative but arrogance is not.
Every game of senior cricket I ever played always ended with the two teams sharing a beer. Admittedly wasn’t a Test match but I believe that is the usual procedure.
Not true

That isn’t the full truth.
Australia claim they were brushed and Stokes reached out after they’d left.
I’m sure Khawaja appreciated going to a nightclub.
Highest run scorer this series, which is his last in England along with Warner, Smith, Carey, Marsh, Boland, Hazelwood, Starc….
Scum crowds booed the hell out of these guys even during their last appearances. Scum team then brushed them for a beer and debrief after the game.
Low class, bad losers, pick your definition….

I guess we’ll just wait for one of the Aussies to dispute Stokes clarification then. Surely one of them will if it’s not the truth.

Thanks for clarifying, the news thread that I originally saw put a different spin on it and I reacted accordingly.
All is right with the world ( cricket wise ) 🤣
Yeah…don’t believe it.
Australian officials claim they knocked on the locked doors for up to an hour before deciding to head off.
English officials claim they were shocked to hear the Aussies had left.
I have no doubt, these guys all have each other’s phone numbers in their mobiles. Surely they called or sent texts before going.
They ignored them.

One thing that has stood out to me this series is the lack of derogatory comments from our players in the media surrounding the treatment in England.
The worst I saw was Usman saying he was disappointed with the Lords members.
Smith has every right to be upset. As does Cummins, Carey and Warner. They have just copped it.

There’s nothing derogatory about saying something isn’t true. Not every pushback has got to be abusive.

I thought it was really sad seeing Smith boo'd off in what was probably his last innings over there. Especially considering the extremely dominant record he has over there he definitely deserved more respect than that. Surprising especially considering he was never really in the midst of any drama happening this series, Khawaja etc. you could argue was in a couple altercations with the crowd, but Smith had a relatively quiet tour from that point of view, disappointing to see him cop it. Someone earlier mentioned that he looked fed up, makes sense.

Maybe. The initial comment was anonymous. They should just move on to the next game. There’s no benefit being sucked into the mind games. We have the urn. If England want to continue to play the victim then let them.

I don’t see any indication they are playing the victim. They seem to have moved on from the Bairstow incident. It’s the media who can’t let it go.

Yeah I said that when there was a rumour he would retire.
He has looked really unhappy most of this series and it isn’t just form related. He got MOM in the second Test and was booed with hatred as opposed to friendly banter and sledging.
His mother had to leave the ground due to the upsetting nature of what he was copping. One of the true modern day greats deserves more respect than that.

Australia gave Stuart Broad a guard of honour and playfully invited Anderson to join him. This despite the absolute shit Broad has spoken about our teams over the years, including this series.

We have displayed a lot of class on this tour and that’s to be commended.

Think you will find the media hype everything. Some of the absolute tripe spoken by the media regarding both sides makes me wonder if some of them know anything about cricket . Baz ball while not being denied by Stokes and McCullum as you would expect considering their respective natures is largely a media invention semantics wise.

Didn't look fed up when his name was put up on Oval Honours Board as highest scoring touring batsman in cricket history at The Oval replacing The Don . Just saying .
