LIVE GAME Round 23 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
Annessley has confirmed that the WT boys were dudded again yesterday, but once more it changes nothing for us or our team.

Thing is, we now should have an additional 2 to 4 points from our matches against Canberra this season, with the pushing Brooks out of the play indiscretion costing us the first game a couple of months ago.

That match followed the big win over the Cowboys, so another deserved win would have been great for morale and may well have given much more impetus to our season. We will never know, but it/they certainly cost us dearly and didn't do any good for a side that although competing, was struggling to get wins.

We have to be careful to not play the victim too much here.
That first game v Canberra was lost because we couldn’t score a point when they had 13 on the field. We also failed to set up for a field goal at the end which would have got us through to OT. We were bloody dreadful that night bar for a 10 minute period when they had one in the bin.

Had we made our tackles yesterday, we overcome the bad call. You can’t rely on the refs to get you home. Winners make sure the job is completed.

I can't believe that Wighton had the gall to accuse the ref of trying to give the Tigers the game after the forward passes he kept throwing were let go. Bloke is an absolute gronk with a massive chip on his shoulder
There were a lot of square ups towards the end and we had the momentum.
We had him worried.

Don't totally disagree, though the refereeing decisions and actions are intertwined.

From my recollection of both games and putting aside the winning points from tries costing Annessley apologies. The Canberra side were basically getting away with murder on holding us down in the first one until the player was finally binned, whilst on Sunday I don’t recall a single 6 again indiscretion being called

Just watched replay of raiders game and stop framed last 2 mins .There is no way Nofo could have got that ball on the full .It was a low flattish kick coming down almost on sideline 10m away . Did well to collect it on the first bounce with his toes I inch from the sideline and passed to Toa who got crunched with a high tackle .
The whole thing was bad luck close but no cigar .
What wasn't bad luck was Raiders getting 2 tries from forward passes . That was very bad officiating which cost us the game .
If they did that to the top teams there would be hell to pay .
We get to bank another Annessley at apology which is Useless ! Stop bending over backwards to keep Ricky happy ! To the officials Are you scared of him ?

Good summation. As far as Annesley goes, what can we expect, the result can’t change and I’m sure that within the NRL appropriate follow up has been made with the the relevant in field officials. I know we seem to get quite a few bad calls but short of a public execution not a lot can happen.
I think it’s good how Annesley fronts each week to identify the good and the bad. I guess we just have to hope that it doesn’t happen again in the future, either by improved performance on field or bunker involvement ( which I favour for blatant forward passes).

What happens during a game is what it is. The whistle goes - that's it.
But surely there has to be a way to improve the standards of the officials, week to week.

We fans can't do it, but Annesley is the voice of the NRL Admin and every error should also include something positive that the NRL is doing to improve things.

Excuses never placate upset fans, but changes for the better would.
The NRL shouldn't play victim here - they should be the driving force to take the game ahead.

Totally agree TO.
