Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have a feeling the club is holding off on announcing Sullivan and Seizer officially until after the Dolphins game. Seems like they're heavily deflated with injuries and I think we're expected to get the win. Introducing those two signings after a win could create some momentum and good media narrative.

Side note: Blore and Twal as our prop rotation coming off the bench is impressing me more by the week. Really hope we keep Blore.
I reckon you could be right.

Have you heard any more about Blore @teddy23 or any other external targets or retention priorities?

If we've signed Moylan and I sincerely hope that isn't the case, something has happened with Sezer or Sullivan. Wouldn't surprise me if the dogs have interjected with Sullivan seeing as Sexton isn't quite working out. That's just a guesstimate with us not announcing Sullivan or Sezer yet.

Blore info same as always - club have changed there mind and would like to keep him however injuries are a concern and won't be offered a long term deal. I think he'll be re-signed if he can finish off the season injury free. Sheens seems to rate him highly and I think Benji is starting too as well.

In terms of recruitment - I don't have much right now. But will post as soon as I hear anything.

I do know the club have stalled on Staines's new deal as they view Meaney as the better option - if Staines does sign then don't expect the club to pursue Meaney as they've probably been notified he isn't coming.

Obviously you couldn’t sign Moylan and Sezer but both are 32 and Moylan has experience, creates points with 12 try assists and 7 line break assists as the secondary half for Sharks. His defence is average but he is a winner and brings winning culture having had 1 loosing season from 12 in his career. He is also a great talker. Wouldn’t be the worst signing if we are after an experienced half and is coming straight out of a top 8 system.

Thanks mate. Interesting re. Meaney. I rate him highly plus he has the benefit of being a gun goalkicker, however I think Staines has the potential to be a gun winger of the NRL. Interesting how this plays out.

Meaney still has another year on this contract with the Storm so would have to be an early release or player swap (Kepaoa hopefully).

When Papz is back as Storm #1, you'd think Meaney will be behind Coates & Warbrick for a wing position unless they use him as a centre (now that Olam seems on the outer).

Your info suggests it's difficult for the WT to find a suitor for Nofa otherwise we could retain Staines & go for Meaney.

Sezer / Moylan what's the difference? One or the other I doubt both.

Moylan is a runner and his kicking game is terrible. He gives us speed I guess. But geez he has been terrible this year at the Sharks.

Sezer is slower but spends more time middle park and his kicking game is alot better.

Either way its an nrl retirement contract for both.

If we have promised Sullivan the 7 and Fainu the 6 then guess could make sense why Moylan over Sezer in that regards but still would prefer Sezer as we just need someone with organizational skills to help mentor our kids thinking.

Moylan is also a guaranteed defensive liability, which is an issue I don't recall Sezer having.

I don't see any great advantage in either one or the other. They are both seasoned footy players. Moylan had a pretty good season last year and has constantly been in the NRL. Sezer been away for a few for that reason alone at his age not convinced it will be so easy to transition back into an 80 minute role.

They have that unit Jack Howarth coming
of age, I think they would prefer him playing
inside another giant in Warbrick if Olam goes, keep Meaney as a utility. Think either
Olam or Meaney will be gone - how they manage
their cap is insane. Full of reps the storm

The beginning of the end for the cap was when Saints fitted Gasnier into their 2010 squad paying him for next year.

Fox disrupted the game permanently but they kept the cap pretty fairly policed.

Our club needs to start breaking some rules.

Paying Olam a good wicket and paying a shittin for that Howarth is where the problem is...
Been wondering why Seve is getting a start over him.
They need to move him....

Yeah bro, can't get him away from QLD I think.
Seve has been ok for them but they invested
500k on Jack for 5 years purportedly. Crazy

With Good Reason....

I'm a little on the fence with Olam.
He's not got a lot of miles in him being a late starter, Super smart - hard worker and professional....
He's been a bit down on form coming back from injuries,
Never felt that's why he'd been sent back to ressies....

Kaito reminded me of Howarth and the penny dropped....
Didn't they sign the kid for 500k a year - just out of school?
Howarths a backrower now that he is filled out. Don't think he has played in the centres for a couple years.
