Russian invasion of Ukraine

A year or so since I was writing on Russia beginning their blasting of Ukrainian cities to dust, just like they did in the Syria campaign. Tens upon tens of thousands dead, many millions displaced, so sad.

But, Nazis, bio labs, ........., so all good.

One of the better historical arguments could be that people who are pro-Russia support tovarisch KGB polkovnik Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and, through the KGB, their predecessor NKVD and their reincarnation - FSB, responsible for starvation/elimination/imprisonment (gulag), from a low of 10–20 million to as high as 148 million! 🤔

It's bizarre that there are people still try to defend this unjustifiable invasion.

Where were you in 2014? Its bizarre people have no idea what this is about and have been baa spoon feed what to think baa 🐑

Maybe add a Ukraine flag to your avatar just so we know how good of a person you are.

Not quite sure what Mr Churchill is on about with his cryptic comments but it would be more helpful to add some worthwhile historic context ….. so …,

In February and March 2014, Russia invaded and subsequently annexed the Crimean Peninsula, taking it from Ukraine. This event took place in the aftermath of the Revolution of Dignity and is part of the wider Russo-Ukrainian War.

And if you need additional information on Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity … read away.

None of this of course paint Russia in any positive light … not for this sheep with a brain, anyway.

Not really fussed who comes out on top in the unfolding internal Russian conflict/coup, just that they get their military arses out of their neighbours lands.

Also good to see that Lukashenko has apparently already fled Belarus, so hopefully their people can also be free from dictatorship.

The Wagner military are nowhere near strong enough to take on the Russian military for any length of time, their only realistic hope would be if some other high level Russian generals supported them with their armed formations.Russia has always been ruled by dictatorship/monarchy and the people have never known any real democracy. As much as i would hope that would change because the Russian people deserve to have a government that is fairer i don't see anything good coming out of any form of civil war there.
The long term winner will be China as they now will be years closer to annexing large parts of Eastern Russia and the Russians will be able to do little about it as the Chinese military is probably stronger than the Russian one already.
I hope you are right about Lukashenko

That is not strictly correct. In the era of Gorbachev and Yeltsin, there was a brief period from 1985 - 1999, when Russia was going towards some sort of democracy.
However, that was an era when ex-NKVD/KGB/top nomenklatura transferred their influence/power into material goods-> oligarch.

That is true but it was a very short anomaly when the Soviet Union was breaking down and the fledgling democracy that the Russian people deserved did not fully eventuate.Fortunately many of the other countries that the USSR had ruled indirectly or directly were able to get their independence back.

To the surprise of nobody the man who led the "rebellion" against Putin a few months ago has reportedly been killed in a "tragic plane crash" which has no survivors.I suppose it makes a change from jumping out of a 4th floor window which is the usual unfortunate accident that happens to the dictator's critics
Reported on the BBC website

The west was celebrating him when they rolled
into Russia last month. The traitor got what was
coming to him. Hardly a tragic plane crash lol

He was just another hardline right wing Russian fascist and until he had disagreements with the Russian military over the way the war was being conducted in Ukraine a close associate of Putin. It is however unfortunate for the other people on the plane who have died for this

Jad, the west are sacrificing Ukrainians through
their proxies. Russians lost 2 many men fighting
Nazism for you to call them right wing fascists...
This war could have been avoided if the west
& NATO stopped expansion and wanton shelling
of Crimea & Donbass. It's been bubbling 4 ages.
It's fast becoming a multipolar world and the
States and her vassals can't hack China's rise.
I'll put it to you that Russia aren't the bad guys,
and that AUKUS should have been voted on by
the public. We're spending 20m a day for 30 years
in tax payer funds to be puppets 4 the yanks.
It's going to get us into shit, we should be in
effect sitting on our hands and keeping neutral.

I have always been totally against invasions of sovereign states it is interesting you mention the Soviets fighting Nazism but the only reason they did that was because Hitler betrayed the non agression pact with them after both regimes invaded Poland in 1939 and added it to their empires. No doubt the USSR fought the largest land and most bloody campaign against Nazi Germany with 80% of official German losses being on the Eastern front.Hitler and Stalin were both loathsome people who are believed to be responsible for the deaths of almost 100 million people many of whom were their own citizens.
I am sure that you realise that Donbass and Crimea were part of Ukraine until Russia decided to annex them a decade ago just like they have done with other parts of the Soviet union which gained independance after it's collapse.Nato is NOT a country but an alliance for defence against invasion and the only reason it is getting larger is because countries are rightfully getting worried about Russian aggression, many Slavic countries who have suffered from Russian invasion in the past are joining or applying to join Nato because of it.
During my life i have always disagreed with all of the wars that the USA have been involved in with the war against IRAQ after they invaded Kuwait and ISIS terrorism the only exceptions i can think of(i was born at the end of the Korean war but the defence of South Korea was also justified)
I disagree with you in regards to Russia not being the bad guys as history shows aggresion is always the wrong action

Thanks for your well measured response as always.
I agree with what you've said about certain parts
of your post but vehemently disagree with other parts. The last time there was a credible military threat
to the United States near the US border (Cuban missle crisis), the US responded so aggressively that it nearly ended the world... The reason people don't get it when you compare Ukraine or Taiwan to a hypothetical scenario in which Russia or China were amassing heavily armed proxy forces on the Mexican border is because people literally can't wrap their minds around that happening. It's just too remote and unthinkable a proposition. The number of countries the US invaded post world war 2 is very long list... China and Russia have invaded zero sovereign states. The yanks are still uninvited guests in Syria, stealing millions of barrels of oil everyday. If you were so against war as you claim, then you would be against this one too and calling for peace. You wouldn't be barracking for NATO who are supposed to be a defensive alliance - they bombed Libya, Yugoslavia & Iraq in the last 2 decades. USA & Australia are gearing up for war with China, our neighbour and biggest trading partner. It's concerning.

Edir: I copied some text, I wanted to write more too but I'll leave it at that 4 now
