He's a modest 1st grade player. He does not give a team great metres out of dummy half on those early tackles. His value is in that he CAN run, he's ok catching & he's a back-up fullback.

He's not better than Nick Meaney though. Keao Weekes from Manly is probably a good comparison, and cheaper.

I wrote a week or so ago, finding middle ground is important because Staines also plays fullback and brings with him the professionalism of the Panthers and the development system. He demonstrated with his injury his willingness to play for WTs. I rate that character trait very highly. Are Weekes and Meaney available for 24? I understood both are contracted to their clubs next year.

You are wrong, and I am sick to death of telling you and the other fan boys, I don't hate Brooks.
I like him, I hope he does well, but Manly suck, I am just sick of the club backing him to be a 7 when we all know he can't handle the job, he is clearly not a 7, and Clunes is a better 7

just because manly suck and they do doesn't mean he will not go well over there
He is a better 7 than Clune and to say he is not is a silly statement

Brooks won't be playing 7 next year, are you actually reading my posts, Brooks is not a 7.
Nowhere did I say Manly will struggle, my opinion as an old Wests supporter is Manly suck, and I always hope they struggle, doesn't mean they will.
And furthermore, Brooks, Smith and co have left the 7 bar at Wests Tigers extremely low, so Sezar won't have to rise to any heights to beat them

The thing about the Brooks cult is that they'll say "he's a good player" but I've never seen any of them identify what aspect of the game it is they think he does well.
He can't kick.
He can't game manage.
He can't give good ball to his outside men.
People say he can run, but it rarely happens.
He goes to water under pressure.
He can't read a game.
He can't communicate.

It's easy to scoff at Clune, but in the last 2 weeks he performed in all the areas that Brooks hasn't in his career.

Hard to argue with any of that, but the ironic part is if Brooks played 6 and Clunes played 7 this year for us, we certainly wouldn't be last, we would be in or around the 8.
The Brooks fans think if you say he is not a good 7 you hate him, it's not on Brooks that he is not a 7, it is 100% on the club who kept on telling him he was, when any one with half an idea on league could see he was a 6 who needed a controlling 7 to work with.
He will get that at Manly next year, and if he goes well they all will be saying look how good he is going, but he will be playing 6 with DCE at 7, which is exactly my point for the last 5 years.
