Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have wanted Smith for years.
He is exactly the target we should go after. He is finally getting a consistent run without injuries the kid is one heck if a talent.
Would be a great addition to our side, Roosters no chance of letting him go he’ll get a unit at Waverley and re-sign with them for less than half of what we could offer.

Fair enough. See ya later lads.
Comes down to one thing , playing for a club who can compete each week , Steph has got better but still not a gun $ 800 k forward , big off season will help , Papai , well he went from the top to the very bottom , that would be a shit feeling , His partner if still in NZ would be hard , but I heard his partner come to Australia so warrior talk rubbish but eels talk , I still think is rubbish as they are not winning the comp and will again be middle peg next year, all we need to do is broom out the Sheens crap , start fresh and quick , Morris is a good addition as he coached top grade just recent , Our forwards have been ok / Competitive so if Furner stays I’m ok with that , we just need to buy players in their positions , if we need a centre go buy one , not a wing who can maybe play centre , multiple position players you only need a couple number 14 s , Overall top 30 we need to dump at least 8/10 I feel
Maybe some on hear know who is def leaving , all I know is it’s Brooks and Laurie , that’s 2 , 8 to go

Keepers to Bring on in 24
Reilly , Kitt
both I feel with top grade training and play will bring them on
Time to go
Seyfarts , Noffa , Matta , T Simpkin , Smith , Wakeman , Tommy , Brooks , Laurie , Kapoa , probably couple more but I do understand we need to replace them

Off-season time Benji and the assistants better use this off season to absolutely flog the hell out of this lot. Absolutely no mental toughness, discipline or heart. Do what Ciraldos trying to do work them till you break them and if after they've been broken they start complaining, punt them. I cannot see another way this joint is going to get out of the decade of crap we've been dished up.
No way any of our up and coming players will hang around atm we're absolutely pathetic. From the board room to the locker room.

It’s a shitshow.
Our first choices aren’t good enough and our up and comers are years away from helping.
Our coaching staff are inexperienced and our owners only see us as numbers on a page.
Tough position to be in. Years of misery ahead still.

A big part of the recovery from this year across all grades as they were all poor is mental prep , these players don’t quite look like they believe they can win , they look more like they are going out just to try and compete , we need a mentality that when you run on a switch is hit and your ready to beat this team , strength from with in , Eg Pole , he is a beast and does run hard BUT , he does not run flat stick to try and crush the defenders , he has a stutter and moves around , he needs to wind up and go straight or on the angle leaning into the defender to bounce them , it’s just stuff they need in their heads , .
Second part we need is speed , Manly were way faster and had way more speedier players ,
Third part and has been addressed to a degree is leaders , leads in the 6/7;, Sezer will fix this up but we need Papi and Bateman , Pole hitting the lines off our new 6/7 and this is something we did. Not do this year , Papi is very good at it , just needs good service with room , last night you could have put a tea towel over us we were that bunched , you even had Laurie standing next to Jake when we were playing the ball , Laurie should have been in the back line

One thing I would do right now , I would send them all on holidays now , get this shit season out of there heads , any injured players remain and get sorted , anyone getting the Tap do it Monday .
Return to light training 3 weeks earlier than everyone else and slowly build them up for the off-season of their lives , 3 weeks of running and weights and some mental work , break the day in to 3 sections
Running , track and field trainers
Weights , target required areas
showers / Food / Mental work , Videos
bring in help if required from specialist players like , Matt Johns (6/7 ) , Billy Slatter ( Bulla ) Cameron Smith general team talk what should be expected of you , double down on what our coaches are bringing .
James Grahame , Forwards our young guys ,
anyways that’s my rants over a very frustrating season to watch
hope the finals are good footy and the refs don’t screw any teams

Needing all hands on deck, every player running hard, tackling hard, putting their body on the line for the jersey.
Not every team can have the best players, but any team can play with the best energy, effort and intent.
As others have alluded too, young Kit at age 18 in his first ever NRL game ran the ball harder than any of our other forwards.
Reilly who was playing his 3rd NRL game before getting injured was a clear standout in energy and effort, he was at least getting off his line and rushing the Manly attack defensively, showing good acceleration with ball in hand with limited opportunity and always put pressure on the opposing kicker when he was in the vicinity, why can’t others demonstrate these one 1% plays ?
Can’t fault the effort of Api, Twal and Seyfarth either, but the others need a reality check in their attitude and commitment.

Nice read

Given the state of our roster we need to be the best in all the areas of the game that don’t require talent. Kick chase, support play, marker defence, pressuring their kicker, line speed, etc. Doing these things exceptionally well allows inferior teams to compete against better teams, and even jag a few wins against them. But doing this requires a very high level of fitness and a desire on the part of the players. I believe we are lacking in these key ingredients. Hopefully we can turn this around in the offseason.

James Grahame would be a massive positive if we could get him involved in our young forwards development,he would also have the advantage of coming from out of our system so he would probably be respected more

Yes, Reilly deserves a mention.
He has applied himself, battling in reserves all year and when finally given the opportunity in NRL, he did not look out of place at all.
Before he came off injured last night, he made a couple of very good tackles, closing the gaps on one leg. That is committment.
Interested to see what we can do with him over the off season. He is worth the effort.

The attitude Bellamy instills in his players is what has made them the most consistently succesful side in the last 2 decades. He certainly had the benefit of having a CEO who cheated the cap but Bellamy is unmatched in the modern game in getting the best out of his squad. When some of his stars have gone elsewhere some have withered in other clubs and while i certainly agree it is worth trying to get a few of them here there are no guarantees they would be as good here, especially when you take our administration/leadership into consideration

I admire Bellamy’s success, but at the same time, can’t get too carried away with the superlatives for a number of reasons.
1. He’s had his owners back him 100%.
2. Been in the same coaching job for 18 years or so.
3. Storm are isolated in the country’s biggest city, which may not mean much, but when you tie that to their access to a QLD talent pool, it counts for a lot. It brings the players closer but also isolates them. Much easier to have a mindset that there’s no way back, the only way is forward.
I’m not going to defend Tigers poor performance, but we haven’t had similar advantages and compete with all the other Sydney clubs.
Bellamy will rightly go down as a great coach, but I’m not convinced.
He was up against it in his Origin coaching experience when QLD had 10 Storm players who donkey licked the blues. That was his only venture outside of the safety of Melbourne.

Not forgetting Reilly minimised the attacking threat of Billy Smith against the Roosters.
Smith last night towelled up Campbell Graham.
