Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

i still think Tumeth could be a very good defensive centre. He is not big butmore than big enough to do the job in the centres. Has the hole running of a centre just lacks a little agility and skill to be a real attacking threat.
So the solution to the worst centre stocks in the comp is to add someone slower than Talau/Kepaoa?
We need speed, Tumeth is similar to Lovett, and should not play centre in first grade, ever.

The Penrith Panthers have landed a significant coup, luring boom rookie Paul Alamoti to the club from the Bulldogs next season.

The back-to-back champions have been in discussions with Alamoti for the past week, agreeing to terms on a deal that will see the teenager fill the Panthers’ final spot in their top 30 roster for next season.

At least you blokes are on the right track.
All the other suggestions of rejects and reserve graders during the day has had me shaking my head at how low they expect our recruitment to be.
Agreed. I've never been one for the fantasy football suggested signings many make on here - Munster etc but man oh man. The idea of having hymel hunt and euan Aiken as a centre/wing pairing gives me nightmares. Need to be better than that.

I think he will be even better on the left.

I'm ok with Reilly/Tupou on left side
Toa/Staines on the right

Naden back up and Feledy developing.
Not bad…Toa will do if we can’t sign better. He isn’t very dynamic though and pretty inconsistent. Hopefully we are adding another centre to the ranks.

Just a nothing aside from today: Spoke to a mate who supports the dragons today, and he said Sullivan was 'a gun' and when asked why they let him go, he said, 'we're a sh.t club'.

This was good for two reasons:

1. I reckon fans who follow their team closely have a good read on players and he's usually the type to make fun of the tigers and ridicule our moves and signings (fair enough too). So it's at least possible to be a bit hopeful about Sullivan.

2. Good to know other fans share our eternal disappointment of supporting a struggling club.

Not forgetting To’a is much better suited to playing left centre/left wing due to his big left foot step, but was made to play on the right as we have no others who like playing on the right.

Toa, Tupou and Reilly are good footballers, just wait and see. Add Staines and maybe another offseason find, it's a very good backline. Reilly may even start the season at 5/8 if Fainu's not ready and I think he'll excel there. John Morris is going to make a massive difference to the structure and if we can produce any sort of threat from the halves, you'll see what these kids can do. Note when Brooks was on his game, Tupou and T'oa were standouts. Staines is always a threat. All they need is a bit of room to move.

I would like to see some strike power from the 2nd rower next year.
Looking at someone that’s a bit hit or miss like Bryce Cartwright could be a risk but as he has got older and matured has become more reliable.
Playing him on one side with young Samuela Fainu on the other could give the opposition something to think about.
The better teams second rowers play 80 minutes so don’t waste an interchange.
Leaving the following as our rotating middles
Klemmer
Utoikamanu
Pole
Papali’i
Twal
Bateman- Cover outside back if needed (centre)
4th reserve
Either our young hooker ?
Or reserve half to fill in at dummy half for around 20 min and incase a half gets injured.
Would like at least one nrl centre
With some speed not one that fills in as a second rower when required but finding one looks harder than it sounds.
Buying 1x second rower (Cartwright)
Buying 1x Centre (nrl standard)
Resigning Winger (Staines)
