I backpacked through Asia in 93. Got told not to go to Cambodia and Vietnam by so many other travellers. That sounded like an adventure so off I went.
Got chummy with an expat from WA at a pub near where I was staying. He was a bad dude but he was good to me and as he was 20 years older, he knew a lot of people. We mucked around for months doing odd jobs…deliveries, selling bikes and a bit of door work. He ended up going home for a visit and got locked up whilst he was there. Got bashed to death in prison. I stayed about 7 months before word came through about where the hell he was. It was a weird time in my life…
Been back twice. That joint goes from strength to strength. You still there?
