Lee & JP finally lose the confidence of the Board??

Does anyone know if the Wests Tigers constitution or corp governance statement is available online? I can’t find it from my searches.

No I don't believe it is.

Perhaps I should have said… is it pre determined that certain people will lose their jobs ?
A fair chunk of our Wests Tigers fan base have already made their minds up they want the heads of Lee and Pascoe to roll without really knowing the good or the bad they have done during their tenure with us and without a proper understanding of the challenges they have faced.
We live in a world where so many are happy to lay blame and make assumptions without any real knowledge on what they are arguing about.
So it won’t matter what the review outcome finds, Lee and Pascoe will still be public enemy number 1 in the minds of these fans regardless.

The Wests Tigers do not fulfill the Community grants requirement of the Clubs license because they are a (supposedly) professional organisation. WA/HBG need to be granting money to community and other local sporting clubs which they do. WA/HBG 2022 overall grant spend was around $3.8M, the money to WT was about half of that.
So you are saying they need to donate around $4m plus they donate around $2m to the Tigers which is not mandated? I’m not surprised they are reviewing the club if this is the case. They’ve potentially thrown around $18m down the toilet under Pascoe’s watch.

Fans of any sport get shirty when their teams start to consistently lose…

When they start voting with their feet ( and money) then the sporting team has to listen

Agree 💯.
The management of the club was very different back then.
As we are a merged club, there is a lot more to take into consideration when running Wests Tigers compared to all the other clubs except St George-Illawarra who are in a similar predicament.
If managed properly and the on field results are good, a merged club that stems from two former clubs that were initially formed from working class areas can be a huge success.
When on field results are poor there is always going to be criticism and unrest no matter what.
Yes. as I said in another post, the comp was still almost amateur back then. The game has changed in leaps and bounds in all facets, the change to the physique of the players, the cash available the resources and most importantly the exposure. The club tried hard back then to live off the back off the local community love of the Tiger mascot, Benji, his flick pass and side step and believed that because they was adored by a community of school kids that that represented the greater view.
If you want a marker for change. Have a look at South Sydney which after 4 seasons 2 spoons and moving no higher than 3rd last was bought out by Russell Crowe in 2006 (A fan!, shock horror) they started to take direction from him and over time the club rebuilt it’s presence to what it was in it’s glory years. Since that ownership model. Souths have featured in the finals 10 out of 17 season’s starting with another spoon in 2006 but making the finals the following year in 2007.

It shouldn’t have gone to this point. People might be threatening to walk away completely now but that doesn’t capture the many thousands who have part walked away over the last ten years and contribute a small fraction of what they would have if the club was showing any semblance of competence. It’s a crying shame it’s gone on unchecked so long.

Lol, so you’re not qualified enough to do the review but you are qualified enough to determine who isn’t qualified to do the review.

Move over @Vicious, we have a new contender for silliest poster!
I don’t know why you are not conducting the review, you know everything and have all the solutions, just not willing to share with anyone 🤷‍♂️

Yes …it’s taken longer then it should have…but I suspect the breaking point has now been reached… Probably this past month or so since the season ended, they have had a flood of people cancelling their memberships before the auto renewal kicks in….

Best post I have read in the past 10 pages. Everyone is going off half-cocked lately.

Three important points to remember …

Isn’t it a good thing there is a review underway whether 100% independent or partially?

It will produce recommendations but ultimately which recommendations are implemented will be up to the Board so I’m sure some & not all recomms will be implemented.

The Podcast crew led a petition for a review into the Club. It is HBG that determined to initiate the review given the results of the petition.
Really I was concerned that it was only 2000 signatures out of our 20,000+ on that petition. But even still it was enough to convince one of our owners to look deeper into how things are placed currently. We should all feel honoured to some point that the club is taking this seriously and is actually looking to it’s target market for validation.

So because I'm not qualified to do the job that excludes me from having an opinion on who is?
I should probably stop voting in elections then.
Slap yourself in the face with your thong ya stooge.

I think you need some of both. At the moment we have a guy who can sell legal services well but he can’t get out of his own way in rugby league. Sport is so different to business because it’s largely unregulated.
Yeh, I get your point. Apart from a regular audit, they’re pretty much left on their own? So with that in mind, they could become lazy and do things in a way that is more habitual? At least if you’re having a review conducted by someone from an aged care facility, he’s more likely to question certain behaviours? I mean unlike the guy who comes from an nrl background who considers the same behaviour the norm?

The club should be honoured that fans still support them after by far the most abysmal NRL run in the modern era. At least Newcastle's spoons had semi appearances before and after. Without fans, what is an NRL club?

My understanding, though. is that the Tigers how don't have many young fans. To them, supporting the Tigers would make them a joke and a loser. The long demise should have been looked into during the Maguire era, when the team rapidly got worse but had not reached rock bottom.

Coming 17th after coming 16th is pretty close to rock bottom.

I've been an obsessive fan since I was a little kid, so having next year stolen for no other reason than self promotion probably does have me a bit worked up.
Some of us don't have that many next year's left to be able to afford having them stolen.
Doing nothing would mean the next 5-10years are lost (if we survive at all). A review is/was critical and necessary and the WA have initiated it. Personally I am grateful and I think the podcast guys have gone about this exactly the right way to get things done.

you on the other hand are free to fight windmills in your crusade against imaginary agendas without even hearing one of the recommendations to come out of the review.

Same place the constitution or governance statements of alll privately owned companies are kept. Usually in a top draw somewhere.

This club has been an abject failure for 12 years. In that time we have cycled through hundreds of players, 6 coaches and heaps of ancillary staff. The club is still a shambles and measurably getting progressively worse. In recent years managment have made substantial sweeping changes to the club, in the name of a 5 year plan only to immediately reverse course within 12 months.

Who is responsible for this failure?

Licensed leagues club are not permitted to make a "profit" and need to return all surplus revenue to benefit members or community grants. It is a very fraught field and they are audited annually.
