I think the nrl would prioritise Luke lauliii . Ones good prospect , the other is the best winger in his Age group .Laulili’i also possesses more versatility. Australian Schoolboy at 17 on the sting. freak.

That’s fair as far as type of player in a squad etc. I would personally pay 350. He offers way more than tamou did at that price if my memory serves me correct.Well…. no one wants him at $525k as we have just seen … so what’s your value?
I would rate a bench player at $400k… but I dont want him past next year as a bench player
We keep hearing there is so much young talent coming through … so let’s see some playing in the Top 17….
$250 k is what NSW Cup level players get paid … probably the high end

This team needs to take a quantum leap…
So does that suggest Twal will in fact be on 680k next season, if salaries are rising with the cap?The new Salary cap just increased 30% though with major increases coming each year over the next few years. That's got to be taken into account
He was, for a few months. So we got good value out of him this year.Twal‘s $525k is an over payment sure,,. But not even in the same solar system as the likes of McQueen, Packer,Reynolds, Matulino and Nofo…
I’ll judge Bula’s value for money down the road …I can’t see the future ..
he was on the books this year for $125K so the Club is in front so far
I didn't think all salaries were rising with the cap (correct me if I'm wrong). So does that suggest Twal will in fact be on 680k next season, if salaries are rising with the cap?

I wonder how often a player has gone from development contract to NRL contract on $125k to NRL contract on $700k in under a year. I'd guess no club has ever thrown contracts around like this before. It smacks of a club that manages the cap poorly.
It's not guaranteed, but i believe many NRL contracts included a clause that sees the contract rise with any equivalent rise in the cap. So a player isn't disadvantaged by signing a long term contract while CBA negotiations were ongoing. If they signed a contract 6 months earlier is it fair that they get paid 30% less than someone who signed later? Players shouldn't have to take short term deals in order to benefit from cap increases either.I didn't think all salaries were rising with the cap (correct me if I'm wrong).
Some players though are signing contracts with ratchet clauses that guarantees their salary is based on its respective percentage of the salary cap, rather than a fixed monetary value.
He's not going to 1.4 million. He may get 1 million at the absolute max.I don’t know
But Reece Walsh is about to go from $450k to $1.4m …
He's not going to 1.4 million. He may get 1 million at the absolute max.
And he's proven himself over a number of years, played origin and in a grand final so he's earned his pay rise. We're so crap we just throw money and long term deals at players and just pray it doesn't bite us in a few years time (it usually does, but i'm fairly confident this contract will be better value than most of our previous big contracts).
Broncos have developed players with elite attributes, both physical & skill, and have taken those attributes (speed, strength, power, cardio, ball skills) to new levels. Walsh, Cobbo, Staggs, Fansworth, Mam, Haas, Riki, Flegler & Carrigan provide an amazing combination of attributes. With shrewd recruitment in Reynolds & Capewell, they have rocketed up the ladder the past 4 seasons.Ok .., fair enough…
Nothing personal at all against Twal… he has played more than a 100 first grade for the club and I respect the hell out of that…
I just want more… like I said earlier I’m tired of the Tigers just making up the numbers in this competition …look at the Broncos … how we ever going to compete against that team? they now have a better team then Penrith in my opinion who as we know have won something like 80 percent of their games the past 4 years and one of the best teams in 50 years …
There is an arms race going on …Teams like the Warriors and the Knights taking big strides.., and you can bet that Souths and the Roosters will be back..
This team needs to take a quantum leap…
End rant …
Bit harsh. He had a great 2023 season. Bloke fully deserves to be extended when does he miss a tackle? His carries have been better too.I don’t really know what he offers. His claim to fame was finally scoring a try. Which he did by being in the right place at the right time and literally falling on the ball. Another player who has hit his ceiling.
Time will tell…
Lee’s buddies in the media like Slothfield are saying he will get $1.6m .., so I thought I was being conservative …
They are paying Haas $1.2 m so you can’t say with a straight face they will pay Walsh less.,

Now you are right …our boy is not Reece Walsh… but I’m willing to think he might be half as good…
Like I said,,, if Bula doesn’t live up to the deal, then I’ll be the first one here complaining about it … but I’ll wait and see
I think the whole discussion moving forward is that he should anticipate the tigers offer will be less than his on now.Bit harsh. He had a great 2023 season. Bloke fully deserves to be extended when does he miss a tackle? His carries have been better too.
There is no doubt in the world Reece Walsh would have numerous clubs prepared to pay him 1.4 million per season. He's not going to 1.4 million. He may get 1 million at the absolute max.

We are not going to replicate that by purely recruitment. We need to develop the likes of Laulilii brothers, Faagutu, Galvin, Mason, Large brothers, Makasini, Willett and take the likes of Stef, Pole, Matamua, Fainu brothers, Blore, T'oa & Bula to whole new levels to get us anywhere near the top 4.
Morris is a good man to have on board to help Benji & Api with this.
I reckon if we can sign Xavier Savage who is no longer a high priority at the Raiders, despite being paid a starting players salary. We are going down the juniors path, but I’m also hoping they buy some players .. in particular a Center and Winger ASAP…like this offseason to play in March 2024 … although re- signing Staines can count as the winger …
Lot of pressure on these young players … They need coaching and leadership to develop … I would like to see more confidence and cockiness in some of these guys …,look at the Broncos and Penrith…. it concerns me that all the young guys know is being belted …
It is a huge risk the Club is taking but it’s all we got so let’s hope for the best …

Add a hard running tackle busting edge forward in Josh Curran.
Re-sign the valuable Charlie Staines and Alex Seyfarth.
To fit them in offload the ageing David Nofoaluma, offload the disappointing Asu Kepaoa and one or two others.
We would have a team capable of scoring over 20 pints per game without even trying.
Sounds like a young BennettFor what it's worth as well I recently ran into Api & had a convo with him about WT's & he could not have enough praise for Benji & what he's done in a short amount of time. A big reason why he extended & why others are committing long term to the club is because of Benji Marshall... he has a lot to learn coaching wise imo but man management is probably the most important thing as a Head Coach nowadays & in that department he is excelling by far !!
