Sezer Haters, Sezer fans... commit here

What negativity has actually been said here? No one is saying he sucks. Whatever is being said, it’s all constructive. Pretty much the point of the forum. He’s a professional athlete, this sort of discussion comes with the territory. I’m sure he’s used to it. Don’t feel like you need to be a white knight on his behalf, im sure he’s fine.
Some on here are insinuating that he is not a real good choice for various reasons - but he has to be given the opportunity to prove himself, and I am certainly no knight in shining armour on his behalf but wish him and all the others in the team a successful year ahead

How the hell are we talking about Nofa on a forum about Sezer.

Aiden Sezer, halfback... What the hell does Nofa coming from Campbelltown have to do with Anything (asking you and Snidest)>???

Meh maybe I don't want answers.

We signed Will Smith outside of the Cap contract.

Now with Kimmorley just randomly at our club like he was a Tigers great (anyone else finding this weird, not even complaining, just finding it weird) and Benji Marshall as head coach.... we hire another halfback to mentor our halves.

But Jerome Luai is on the market. Sure Jerome is a 5/8 but
a 5/8 that played finals footy
a 5/8 with combinations with Api

In signing Sezer we have locked our Luai. Dogs or Dragons will surely sign him.

I hear people points, and hey I would love to be proven totally wrong and see Sezer rip it up for us. Just I think we settled too soon and went on a desperate halfback begging phase. Dragons IMHO made the right decision in deciding "we will wait" - Flanno. We need that longer term thinking here too.

this Signing as long as it is not extended to 2025 should not stop us Signing Luai

Luai's a class above any of our backs.
You sign him, play him wherever you think is best for the team and everyone else competes for the other spots.
10 years of whinging that we can't sign elite players and when one's available the predictable response of a percentage of the forum begins.

Were not Easts!

We have Sullivan, Latu, Sezer and Doueihi on the books.

Penrith can't offer Luai 850k, Luai ain't moving for under 1 million.
If we med retire Doueihi then it "may" happen. Otherwise sorry Tigers you have chosen Sezer > Luai.

^that's why I hate the signing.

Not sure what you mean by Sezer but I'm pretty sure he's only signed for 2024. So it has no impact on Luai in 2025 coming over if he did

A few things. Doueihi is off contract after 2024. Sezer was signed only for 2024. Benji has not been strong in saying AD will stay. Sezer is 33 next year. The pressure is on him to perform in a back to back wooden spoon team and resign a new contract for 2025 onwards. Therefore in 2025, the 3 halves available are Sullivan, Fainu, and Large at a stretch. So basically what some people want on this thread is that we have Sullivan and Fainu for 2025 right off the bat and think that's going to work best. Those young halves combinations (Keary-Reynolds, Cleary-Luai, DCE-Foran) mentioned in the thread were in stacked teams. Tigers are not the sort of team to raise a bunch of juniors together. In fact it could stunt their development. Luai won NYC, NSW cup and was 21 when he made his debut in 2018, played off the bench in 2019, and from 2020 has been in every grand final since. Patience for young guns pays off. Look at what Storm did with Fa'alogo, killed it in the preseason this year, but despite Meaney having some poor games at fullback throughout the year, they didn't blood Fa'alogo until he played against understrength Broncos, and now he's an international icon

Sezer/Luai debate aside,
Was it not reported that Sezer has a mutual option for 2025?
It seems every 2nd post is Sezer is only here for 1 year but if the option is true it seems more than likely he is here for 2.

I don’t think you can objectively debate those two players in comparison to one another.

"Fans live and breathe rugby league and a lot of their life hinges on what we do on the weekend,” he says". Aiden Sezer.

Is this true for you?

if AD and Sezer get moved in in 2025 then we can run with fainu Sullivan and luai no problem

No you cannot "debate" Sezer and Luai together. Luai is a top tier player, maybe not as good as Munster/Ponga/etc.... Not the point, Luai is a Gun 5/8 at Origin Level.

Sezer is a NRL 5/8-Halfback playing in EPL and close to retirement.

What you can do is say "we have a 9.5 Million dollar salary cap". That means if we sign a player for 400-500k (I haven't seen the Sezer figure, I don't believe it is public. I doubt he would come here for 130K + Sausage roll). then that's 400k less from 9.5 Million.

Plus:

Sullivan 600k
AD - 600k
Fainu Brothers 500k a season https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/63d1e72b391d237cd374645d807b8d89

So add it together... .600k + .600k + .500k + whatever Sezer is on.
9.5 Mil - 2.2Mil -500k for extra Fainu Brother... leaving us 7.7 Million!

Sezer has a MO for 2025, We can't spend over 20% of our cap on Halves and then sign a Million dollar 5/8 like Luai.

It's that "IF" that makes the problem...
Sezer has a MO and if we can't shift him to Coaching or something then he will likely take that up... Although to be honest I don't understand MO as an option. This might be a fancy way of keeping a player without adding them to the cap.

AD is still on the Books for 2024, If we can't actually sign Luai on 2024 then 2025 won't matter.

Not saying we should definately sign Luai. I am saying we really limited our options here.

There has to be a balance.
People are saying he deserves a 5-600k pay bump, annually, to come here. That is not good business.

Mutual option has to be agreed by both parties.
