Saw a clip of Denan Kemp today saying how awesome it would be to play for a side like the Panthers and earn 800k. That might be appealing if you were still hunting your first premiership, but it sounds less appealing when you have won 3 of them, and other clubs are prepared to pay you well above a million. Kemp sounded like he was on the Panthers payroll.
Kemp actually retired early because he said he realised he was never going to earn big money.
To now say money isn't important is rich coming from him.

I find him extremely unlikable on that podcast. He was simping hard for the Panthers.
He is the complete opposite of NRL360. Which isn't a good thing when you think about it. Instead of providing criticism when it is warranted he always protects the boys. So there isn't any genuine analysis. Guru is so up himself. The other guys there are ok

It was a weird bit of mental gymnastics by Kemp. Is it the worst thing in the world to stay at the dynasty team for another 2 years on that money? No. But Luai's other option is a lot better. Gets to play freely, more money, longer deal, new environment and challenge, and plays under a coach that can publicly support him. He will also get TPA if his influence becomes bigger. That won't change at penrith when he's not even top 5 in terms of importance for them

Agreed. Unfortunately I enjoy the other 3 regulars so I have to put up with him.

Although Guru's is also starting to become a bit repetitive with whichever young player should go to a club like Melbourne because they will get the best out of him.

You can't really say his other option (us) is a lot better. He could come here and win 3 games a year .

The secret house visit which could land the Tigers the NRL’s No.1 free agent

ByAdam Pengilly November 19, 2023 — 4.16pm

Benji Marshall has upped the ante in pursuit of the NRL’s No.1 free agent, making a secret visit to Jarome Luai’s house as he tries to land the huge signing to kickstart his head coaching career.

A fortnight after Luai officially hit the market, sources familiar with the situation not authorised to speak publicly said Marshall met the three-time premiership winner at his western Sydney home to discuss the merits of a move to the Wests Tigers.

Despite being yet to coach his first game since taking over from Tim Sheens, Marshall has taken a hands-on role in trying to attract some of the NRL’s best available talent to the wooden spooners of the last two seasons.

And he’s set his sights on the market’s biggest name, one who has admitted Marshall was his idol growing up, and has so far resisted signing a $1.7 million, two-year extension from the Panthers.

The Tigers are yet to table a formal offer to Luai, but Marshall’s decision to meet the 26-year-old is an indication the club is ready to make a statement signing.

Marshall did his best to distance himself from any Luai speculation just over a week ago when he fronted reporters in Sydney, preferring to focus on the players he will have at his disposal for 2024.

Veteran half Aidan Sezer, Jayden Sullivan and Latu Fainu will all join the Tigers next season, while Adam Doueihi is on the comeback trail from an ACL tear and could be available later in the season. The club also has highly rated teenager Lachlan Galvin on their books.

“All players that come onto the market, you’ve got to have a look at, especially if they’re marquee players,” Marshall said. “But we’ve signed halves. We’ve got four halves for the season going into it. We’ll prioritise that at the moment.”

The Marshall interest only adds to the intrigue in the Luai stakes, which could have a domino effect on the sluggish player market for the likes of North Queensland’s Tom Dearden and the Roosters’ Joseph Manu.

Marshall wanted an experienced half in Sezer at the club to provide direction after Luke Brooks’ switch to Manly, but Luai could easily assume the halfback role at the Tigers and run a team away from the shadow of Nathan Cleary.

The Panthers are hopeful of an answer from Luai before Christmas given they’ve set aside significant money for him, but it could be dwarfed by a multi-million dollar offer from a rival club such as the Tigers.

The Panthers have refrained from escalating talks with Luai recently as he recovers from shoulder surgery, but his future will be a priority over the coming month as title-winning stars slowly return to training.

Ivan Cleary’s record breakers have shown no appetite to release players early who sign elsewhere, keeping Matt Burton, Viliame Kikau, Api Koroisau, Stephen Crichton and Spencer Leniu during premiership-winning seasons.

You asked someone earlier why they listened to Peter Peters when he bothered them so much, but youre listening to someone you find 'extremely unlikable'
It was a 4 minute video that popped up on my news feed. I didn’t go out of my way to put the radio on.

Choices
Once again you made a choice, you couldve scrolled by, but you clicked and watched/listened for 4 minutes

No different to someone choosing to listen to the radio

Leaving the muppets behind and fronting up at Luai’s house by himself is a good start. 👍
I’m just a bit confused as to why it wouldn’t have been Marshall and Fulton going together, isn’t that how it normally works ?
If Benji and Fulton are playing a game of oneupmanship there will be no winner.
Just more splintering within the club !
Why does this crap just keep on repeating itself?

PS…..and this is on top of his Melbourne trip to see Olam. Did he go with Fulton, coz if he didn’t they may as well pay Fulton out right now and Benji can do the lot.

The player agent might be feeling a bit left out too like the recruitment dude

Maybe we read too much into these things... Shouldn't believe everything we read

Oh yeah it's huge 🤣

It's just a tad hypocritical imo.. Just my two bobs worth
Not really no. The dude I quoted (I’m blanking on who it was), said it made his blood boil listening to Zorba. If it’s giving you that reaction, it’s clearly not good for you. I just said Kemp comes across as unlikable. I wasn’t claiming that watching him illicit‘s such a negative reaction that it made me angry. I was just like ”yeah, don’t like this dude” and moved on.
