Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You then find yourself in the position of have to "set the record straight" every single time they fabricate things, because if you dont then people start to believe it

Best for the club to ignore at 100%...no response
Yeah mate, I’ve been told that.

My point wasn’t a cover all. It’s a case by case thing. My concern with Klemmer is he’s a strong leader at the club, if the narrative isn’t shot down and he actually feels unwanted, it has a ripple effect that I’m not sure our club really gets. We’ve had lots of experienced players mailing it in, in the last 10 years.

It’s an interesting one. Towards the back end of the season all the talk was about Api wanting out then he extended. Sometimes all that is needed is to reassure the player and keep it professional. If the player knows and trust forms then it’s done.

I get it from a fans view it is frustrating at times but I doubt Klemmer is paying attention to the media chatter. He has been apart of many rumors over the years and is experienced on that front.

To flip it though if the rumors were about Nofo you probably wouldn’t care & would probably be going heck yeah.

Yep, no need to email me if Noff is leaving, just make sure he doesn’t change his mind.

Honestly though, I’d prefer 2019 Noffa show up and have a dig again. He’s one who could probably say all the coaching upheaval and general shitness at the top hasn’t helped him achieve his potential.

"The new negotiation window is for a period of 10 days after a player receives an offer they would be willing to accept from a new club."

So sounds like it's neither 'signed' nor 'presented' but 'presented and acceptable'. Thats pretty vague so hopefully the actual language in the document is a bit stronger than the media's interpretation - but probably not.

edit - on the assumption that that change is actually what happened on 1 November as the article is from September
Yeah, it's interesting. It sounds like once that process is underway, the player is almost obligated to accept one of two offers.

High visibility to the NRL at that point, so the counter offer would have to be legit

Of course. Do you know many people stupid enough to do what you are suggesting ? I've never met anyone that dumb.
I haven’t met too many pro athletes full-stop. But I can name hundreds who sacrificed money to win, Tom Brady probably the most famous. It’s well known our club is a shit show, players are just prioritising success when they knock us back. In the end, they probably end up with more money too. Career suicide here.

There’s only so much you can take, missing out on marquee signing after marquee signing. If they can’t sign Luai or AFB, they might as well pack it in.

There’s people making decisions there that were there 10-15 years ago. The time to pack it in was long ago for them.
Losers. And like true losers, only know how to bring losers into the club. And that‘s the Chairman. Loser.

Ftr, by losers, I mean the morons running the club, not the club itself. Though, thanks to their incompetence, the optics make them overlap.

There are more important things in life then a game mate.
100%. My care factor is probably half of what it used to be. And I’m not alone. I’ve spoken to lots of people who feel the same, including long time members of the forum who no longer come on here. Some just have a breaking point. But it doesn’t affect my life.I don’t walk around letting it impact me like it did when I was younger. I don’t put any expectations on the club these days. A great example of that is Luai. I wouldn’t be crushed if we didn’t get him. My reaction would be “well that’s just typical”.

No expectations = No disappointment

I agree. But that doesn’t mean other things aren’t also very important to people. Everyone has their story.
Look at how many players struggle post retirement because the game meant everything to them. You need to have a more balanced life. Just my 2 cents. It doesn't mean you can't be a passionate supporter, I'm a lunatic when we win games.

On the flip side, no expectations also equals no sense of anticipation. And the joy that comes with that. The club has a responsibility to provide that to its supporter base. At least once in a while. For some it’s been a livelihood for decades. They’ve enjoyed the club with their kids, their parents, their partners. Some of them no longer with us. It’s much more than a game to some. To others it’s just a game, and that’s fine.

I disagree a little. I do get the anticipation when we might be on the verge of something big (old habits), but it would have to be something really big for it not coming to fruition for me to be inconsolable. I‘m talking Elon Musk pledging to buy the club and pumping 10 billion dollars into it, only for Lee to run his mouth about it on his chintzy little radio plug before the deal is official, only for Musk to pull the plug, big.

I’m talking more about game day mate. I was predicting our losing margin fairly consistently last year. That’s no fun.
