Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Irrelevant!

And many of Nofa's non-tackles are statistical anomalies that do not get counted as missed tackles because he doesn't make any contact with the attacking player - just leaves a massive hole for them to run into!
Not at all irrelevant. Your "I know how to watch games" chest beating is less credible.

3 of the 4 wingers played in 5 or less wins. One played in 11 wins. They are all tasked with the challenge of making tackles & running the ball.

According to "He who watches games" one of these is absolutely the worst defensive winger in the NRL.

I'm betting you rate the other 3.

"Context" is everything when it comes to SELECTIVE stats!

I can pick stats for NFL QBs that are numerically near identical - but reflect very different quality of players/oppositions etc.

Wihtout that context the stats are meaningless

Here's a little context outlier for you seeing as how you 'know'.

What are Nofa's defensive instructions?

Safe to say context is also everything when a holier than thou "I watch games therefore I know more" commentary is used to discredit others.

Some might consider your argument as "evasion" given how 'absolutely positive' you are on your ability to 'know' through watching games.
Watch games young fella!!

Period!

Stats lie!!

Having a plan is good management.
Divulging the details of that plan to those affected by it at the beginning of pre season is poor man management. A good manager would get the top 4 winger prospects together, tell them they are his focus and that the starting positions would be determined by pre season and trial form. You have to make everyone believe that busting their arse all summer will be worth it. You don’t tell a senior player he is out of the running before he’s begun.
Completely agree.

The only possible reason for telling him he will be in reserve grade is if you think it will force his hand in requesting a release. But it is highly unlikely he is walking away from a 500k salary.

Depending on what was said, it could actually be the club in breach if they were to not pick him on merit in the hope he just up and leaves.

NFL is a poor example in some ways. You don't play EVERY opponent the same as you do in the NRL. That's just a start.

But, using your argument. A QB is probably only as successful as the WR catching the ball, right?

Are wingers ability in defense directly impacted by the guy standing beside him in the line?

This is not a thing. Anytime a linebreak is made by a winger being beaten on the outside that winger is recorded as missing a tackle.

So does the eye test.

You see what you want to see. Just because you 'watch games' doesn't make your judgement better than the paid NRL coaches who have selected him for years. There's a flaw in your argument.

YOU are Captain Amatuer.

They get paid for their opinion.

Common logic suggests you don't know diddley compared to them, despite 'watching games & knowing things'.

This is your biggest problem!

You don't understand the dynamics of sliding or up-and-in defence!

If coming up and in off your line - you cannot run between your opposite and the inside attacker as if going for an intercept.

You have to get to the centre to prevent the pass...

His timing and technique are consistently appalling - and not in sync with his defensive line who tend to be sliding meaning he needs to keep his width and mark his opposite winger.

Name someone "paid for their opinion" who rates Nofa???

As I said his defence is a running joke in league circles!!

IYKYK

All hail King Benji! I’m also hoping the following jobbers are fired for non performance or just being lame:

Ahem…

Noffa
Tumeth
Seyfarth
Papalii
Twal
Matamua

These guys wouldn’t make first grade at another club.
