Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The fact you gloat about this , is way more of a reflection on you , than it is on the gullibility of people on here . In fact even admitting you participated on that discord forum , was enough of a character assessment IMO .
Imagine feeling superior because you made up some bullshit on an internet forum , because others chose to believe said made up thing .
That’s embarrassing…..

Didn't need to be said but you said it just to make it clear....love it.

I guess they no longer see him as one of their two best NRL centre options, and if he is on around 600k per season that is a big chunk of change for someone not in top 17. He probably is a good pickup for another club, including us, but $300k would be more like the going rate.

$300k might be ok for 2024 … but if he continues to decline…I don’t want to still be paying him $300k for 2025-26…

This is the risk you are taking…

Indeed. 300k Max, don't want to carry his
500-600k contract for 3 whole years, no
way. I wouldn't even sign him, start with
Tupou/Nado & Toa in the centres. We
must re-sign Junior. I wouldn't be doing a
deal with the devil. 3 years 4 that $ is 2 much
Those three are depth only in any top 8 squad. Theres no guarantee they’ll step up. Olam walks straight in at tigers. It’s a risk we probably need to take.

Edit: unless there’s a top class centre signing on the cards

It’s clear noffa is becoming (if not always) a hinderance to this squad rather than a positive influence.

The only positive in this whole situation is that he is eligible for the long serving player allowance (salary cap exemption). I would say also one of our only eligible players.

This I believe was increased to 500k with the Sal cap increase. Whilst I don’t know the specifics of how much any one individual can receive. The salary cap hit from his contract, will not be anywhere near as worrying with this subsidy.

Klemm at least qualifies so it is a non issue, unless we release him as well.

"Those in the know" reckon Luai is having his final meeting with the Panthers today with the ridiculous 10 day contract rule they brought in. Dogs haven't made an offer apparently which puts us in the box seat if it's true.
They had a meeting of a new offer on Friday so I'm not sure if they're willing to add to that offer and add an extra year at 4 years or up the price. I personally think they've lowballed him and 850K is just a public rumour that has gained traction

No idea tbh. I have a feeling we might hear from Weidler on 9 tonight if something happens though he seems to be the one getting the tips from the Panthers lately.
Weidler's reports on this have so far been spot on. When Luai signed with Black Money, the offer by Tigers, he's also the first one who said Bulldogs didn't offer a deal when Fox and DT claimed there was

This is why we dont want Olam . Had never been hit like that before & lost his heart that day.
I am probably in the boat of being content with him signing with us but also not upset if he doesn't because his weaknesses would be exposed at a team like ours. He made Munster (who is the best 5/8 in the NRL) look average with his defence and bad line running

Here we have one of the sooks who fell for it lol.
You’re such a pussy lestrange🤣

You can have your opinions about the people that started the rumour ,,, but why the hell would anybody believe anything that some anonymous person says on a message board ?

Are these the kind of people that also buy gift cards from Coles to handover to the guy from the “tax office” with the Indian accent?

A lot of people rated Olam because clowns like A Johns used to gush over him all the time…”strongest looking bloke in the world” “ no one has ever hit harder” “made out of solid granite” etc etc…what I often saw was a very physical bloke who possessed only a rudimentary idea of how to play footy. Opposing 5/8ths, fullbacks and centres worked him out. I don’t think he lost his nerve or confidence as much as superior players nullified his impact and effectiveness.

the only thing I am rather curious about is whether or not Luai had declared he planned to accept our offer and that kicked in the 10 day period nearly a fortnight ago… feel like that would’ve leaked if it was the case? but not entirely sure

Does anywhere still listen to Johns.? That would mean not having Kayo/Fox and watching the appalling Channel 9 coverage ,,, Surely only casual fans are doing that these days?

Olam was an above average player a couple of years back ….just fell off a cliff quick as he got older, which I’ve seen happen plenty of times previously …

Didn't really want to lose Blore but if he has definitely signed with Storm for 2025 then I can't see the point in keeping him in 2024.

Why not give some of the up and comers a crack in first grade and if Blore is as injury prone as some suggest, why risk a Doueihi like situation and possibly waste a top 30 position for the year.

Is there some way we could do a swap deal with the Storm and take Olam for the year with a club option for the remainder of his 2025/2026 contract if things look like they could possibly work out, otherwise it reverts back to the Storm.

Of course we wouldn't want to pay full freight for any of Olam's current 2025/2026 contract and the starting point for 2024 would be that Storm pay Olam's contract and we pay Blores contract with maybe a little sweetener one way or the other.

JFH comments and Jett Cleary lead me to believe it won’t be Panthers. That doesn’t rule out the 15 other clubs though.

Never ever watch nine sport with the volume on. Sometimes out of desperation you have no choice, but I always turn the volume off
