Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

nothing changes in regards to Luai.

Pascoe had some involvement but it’s nothing Richo can’t sort out with a phone call with Luai and his manager to smooth it over. the bloke wants a paycheck and the chance to play halfback. yesterday’s events do not affect that in the slightest.

in regards to AFB, there’s some interesting comments made by Richo in his interview with James Graham about how there’s no need to sign middle forwards on upwards of $800k when you can sign someone who will do a similar job for less and have some cash left over for depth. don’t be surprised if our offer is rescinded in the next week or two.
Good.
Neither AFB or Luai are worth a million dollars per season.

Jeez talk about glass half empty. Exactly when do you think the right time to run a broom through the clown show that's been running the joint for years would have been? Or do they just continue indefinitely on the basis that players are more willing to want to sign for a club that's been anchored to the bottom of the ladder by the muppets in the back office than one that might not be?
Even if you're right, which I tend to doubt, why on earth are you throwing 2025 in there? Do you not think they'll have managed to find some directors and a CEO in 12 months' time?
One particular superstar of the game would be signing now for'25.

Another group, another plan for the future

“Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.”

Hopefully if there's any plan those who decide it will stick around to finish it.

Too much to catch up on, so not sure if this has been mentioned - but Lee's comments on SEN RE Nofa really does confirm what we all think of him. Appreciated his honesty there, at the least.
Maybe they don’t have the relationship everyone pontificates about then? I doubt Lee would throw him under the bus a day after he was sacked if he was a close friend

Might be because Nofa owes Lee H for his current over inflated and over length contract and Nofa threw it back in Lee's face by not being at least professional in his actions

On the contrary Lee went to pains to describe how close they are and mentioned that they had celebrated Nof's birthday with him at dinner this week.
He just can't defend the indefensible. He said Nof seems "lost".

I would say that there is a reasonable chance that Nofo has came to the realisation that his football career is coming to an end and he has no idea how to plan or prepare for the future.

Right. So your argument is that Luai is more likely to sign if he's guaranteed that the same clowns will be in charge when he arrives? Because I could just as easily say he would have signed a fortnight ago if he had any confidence that he wasn't going to be joining a club run by idiots. I mean, you're entitled to your opinion - I'm just pointing out that you've got to be pretty damn desperate to take the negative out of everything to interpret a change of governance at the Wests Tigers as a bad strategic move.

A couple of things.
One, if you read the post it wasn't my opinion.
Two, it's Andrew Voss' opinion, an independent observer who has just pointed out what many players and agents would be thinking.

I'll add my own adendum that Richo is currently only a 6 month appointment. He also has a business that would take up most of his time.

Who knows if he'll continue after that.

That's instability. That's uncertainty if you're looking at it objectively.

Andrew Voss just made the point that any player who was considering signing with us will probably look elsewhere due to the upheaval and instability. There's just too much uncertainty for any manger to point his players our way.
It's hard to argue he's wrong.
I feel sorry for Benji. The events of yesterday probably mean the squad he has now is the squad he'll have to make work.
I like having Shane Richardson running the show, but it's at the expense of the '24 and 25 seasons.

I believe that there are not a lot of expectations on Benji for 2024 with this team he has inherited ….

The fans have got what they wanted in respect of the board dismissal… and that will buy him 12 months to find his feet…

Come 2025 that might change …by then though these kids the club have been talking up need go be up to speed…that’s his real job over the next 12 months

but it’s not that simple. Api and ice played without halves and most of a backline either.
A million dollars on elite , and (IMO) thats what luai is, is not screwing the cap.
We'll see I guess. Paying 1M for Ben Hunt didn't drag St George from the bottom.

The sides that have come good in recent times have been sides with players over performing relative to their pay packet. SJ for Warriors, Walsh/Mam for Broncos etc. None of those guys were on massive money this year.

Some of us don't have that many seasons to throw away.
I hope they can sell the renewal to Luai. The club needs him.

Disagree with that.
