He’s effective because he runs off the back of guys who dent the line , and guys who dent the line off him .
At St George I just don’t see him having the same impact that he has had at the warriors and manly . St George don’t have anywhere near the quality forwards. Same for the dogs . He will get his money , but those clubs really need to be smart about who they put around him . Otherwise 1.1 mil for a 33 year old prop in the final year of that deal is YIKES!!!
That contract is will not age well I don’t think .
 
Signing AFB a year in advance seems futile. Who knows what will arise during that time that may impact on him fulfilling his contract.

The attitude is 100% wrong.
1. You don't bow out of a race when your opposition teams are ante'ing up. It's like playing poker, if the other person is deciding to check or raise the pot you don't Smile like an idiot. Let St George pay 1.3 for AFB...
2. We should still go for AFB, he should be our priority over Luai. I have No idea how Luai fits after our stupid halves spending spree. We have cashed up on Fainu/Sullivan/Sezer... now we add Luai we get 4 halves for two spots (including Ad).

Go for AFB. Cmon tigers get a nightmare forward pack for once. AFB would have been an upgrade on Klemmer, Bateman or paps.
Forwards play better in teams with good forwards around them. People don't want to be the player who gets pummled each game. You want Payne Haas or AFB on your team because you don't want to be running against them. we need that aggression... We haven't finished building our forward pack.

I get what you’re saying however. Newcastle knights showed that a diamond in the rough player like Leo Thompson can be found and can add just as much value to a teams engine room as AFB did for the Warriors. Also no one is talking about the impact of Barnett in the front row alongside him. It takes a team.
And Richardson earlier comments with James Graham were not about not recruiting marquees, it was more a question of timing when recruiting a marquee. To paraphrase when he was discussing our predicament for example that you need to build the club to a level of attractiveness that makes it more desirable for a marquee to join. The egg before the chicken kind of thing. I still think we need to get another prop in as our junior props are too young. I seriously consider an offer to an experienced, big bodied prop that has upside in his game.
