Addin Fonua-Blake

Some forum members think that every player that Wests Tigers buy is the next Benji or Ellis.

Arguably, even as bad our recruitment is/was, we had more success compared to Gould, he spent too much money on the most expensive players around with not much to show, even Woods was a pale copy of his WT's origin/representative version.
e.g. Foran, Burton, JAC ...

Word on the street is that AFB will be announced by the WT in the next couple of days …

Expect a swap with Klemmer … and possibly Kepaoa thrown in ..
That would explain as to why AFB and his manager Tyran Smith met with Wests Tigers officials on Friday.

Also Warriors are the favourites to sign Kurt Capewell from the Broncos, on a three year deal. The Warriors would want an immediate release, as they want Capewell for the 2024 season. This spot has been made available due to the departure of Josh Curran to the Bulldogs.

The Warriors want a player back for AFB…

Ice could be a candidate …

Interesting …This could help us get him as a lot of players that The Warriors might want in return are likely not going to want to move to Auckland … hopefully Ice might be open to it given he and his missus are from over there ..

Apparently Ice’s missus recently moved to Sydney for him so doesn’t look likely

Why do we need to swap anyone when AFB is coming to Sydney anyway in a year?

Because he is still under contract to the Warriors until 2026..and they aren’t letting him go early for nothing …

I think Ice would move personally,,,

That’s just dumb if true. AFB is leaving anyway at the end of next year anyway.

I read somewhere he was granted a release on compassionate grounds end of next year. Not sure the logistics exactly but remember hearing it somewhere

As reported …The Warriors have made his release at the end of 2024 subject to the following …

- he can only go to a Sydney based team ( given the “homesick“ reason)
- they want a “comparable” player back in return

Ice was quoted saying he would stay until at least next year. Which at the time I thought was odd given he's contracted for another year after that.

It all depends on his intentions, if he wants to leave the club then we're better off trading him for someone like AFB if we can. If he wants to stay and re-sign long term, I wouldn't trade him for AFB.

I found it interesting Richardson mentioned we withdrew our offer.

Not sure why that is.Would like to think because they want to secure Luai as a priority or increased offer.

Or just the Richardson backed Benji on a Fulton recruitment target.

Interesting.

He explained the reason. Our pack is strong and can be balanced by youngsters coming through and money best used in other areas is what he said
