Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We are in a good position now. Benji can run his eye over Sullivan, Sezer, Fainu & Galvin for a whole season to determine who (if any) may be expendable.

By expendable, I mean tradable so we can get a player that fills a need in return.

Ideally Sullivan gets plenty of reps in the top 13 this season to enhance his value & with the shortage of quality halves on the market suddenly could find himself in hot demand if he was allowed to explore options.

Or he absolutely kills it & we retain him to partner JL.
Agree, the other good point is the fact all these understudies need to prove themselves every chance they have..they have no leverage until they start carrying the team like the rest of the spine can..by then, that person is our future part of the spine locked in moving forward.

St george may not want him in 2025 they may take him now though for 2024
As for us in 2024 we probably dont make the semis without Luai 2025 we have a good shot at semis
Given that Amone has been given the boot and Hunt wants out, they’ll probably may look at Sullivan again. But why do you want to weaken our squad to strengthen another? It’s surely not just money. We let Sullivan go now and we cop and injury or suspension, we’re screwed. That’s just dumb movement when we don’t have Luai coming until 25, giving up Sullivan now is just plain stupid.

I was initially concerned about a possible negative effect on our young halves, knowing there is only room for one of them in the starting line up come 2025.
But you would assume and hope Benji/Richo have or will sit down with them all individually and reassure them of their value to us long term should their form warrant it.
Many scenarios could play out depending on each players on field performance and it should be exciting to see which player or players take their opportunities and demand to be selected in our top 13 or 17.

While he could play 14, Sullivan imo will be a very good buy for WTs. As someone else wrote, he has next year to establish himself as a half. He would know good halves are in short supply in the NRL and an outstanding season will place him in a very strong position. There is still lots of love for him in Wollongong and many (including me) cannot understand why he was not prioritised over Amone.
Agree Sullivan is a much better player than Amone, just can't see where he fits in to the 17 in 2025 as really think Fainu will fire

I think it’s a huge plus we are going to see the benefits of this this year

It’s early days, but would appear Sezer will likely start the season as our NRL number 7 due to his experience, on field talk and leadership.
In saying that there is much more potential upside in a possible Sullivan and Fainu halves partnership.
Don’t disregard the possibility Galvin could be playing so well in the lower grades that he cannot be ignored to play NRL sometime in 2025, he will likely get an opportunity in the trials too.

Richo’s comments indicate that Blore for Olam is likely and hopefully some movement on the Nofoaluma front or elsewhere in regards to deadwood.

given his prioritisation of pathways I’m very interested to see who the development spot is handed to. exciting week ahead.
Re. Noffa, that would cap a great off season if we can get rid of him. Hopefully a couple more signings to strengthen the side for 2024. Everything is looking positive….for the first time in a decade.

Pezet as an example for Melbourne is not costing them 500k like Sullivan would be costing us if he doesn't get a run in 2025
Also think we need to be blooding TDS to take over the 14
TDS has a big future but there's still no rush with him and a specialist 9 on the bench completely hamstrings a team in the modern game
