Not keen on Olam. We've signed a long list of ageing players from good clubs that haven't worked out for us.
It's very rare for physical outside backs to continue to play well in their 30s. His whole game is hard running. He had a poor season last year and was replaced by middling players.
Despite all that, I think he'd be our best back in a bad group, but I don't see value in boosting this year's squad to limit flexibility in future years, where I think his play will have declined and we'd be unable to unload his contract.
Going against all that, I was against signing tuquiri as well, for the same reasons of him being older and reliant on hard running, but he was great for us.
Still, I think signing Olam is a mistake and we should look for younger players with greater potential, even if it means we don't get them for this season.
