I hope Australia Day never changes from the 26th January. Let people do what they want to do on this day. If you want to protest do it. Good luck to you. I'll be celebrating.

There should be more people like you. Both sides are as bad as each other. Instead of worrying about themselves, they just whine about everyone else.I hope Australia Day never changes from the 26th January. Let people do what they want to do on this day. Could just as easily ask that question in reverse. Anyway, surely First Fleet Day would be just as offensive to those likely to be offended by Australia Day. Do you think indigenous people are likely to celebrate Australia on a different date? My guess is not so much.I think the culture war is deciding on and insisting Australia Day is celebrated 26 Jan. Can't those who want to honour that date have First Fleet Day or something actually related?
That is what we have Anzac Day forThank you for keeping us safe and free buddy .
Which brings me to think , why the hell do we fight for this country that we are not allowed to celebrate on ONE day a year , maybe these activists should show some respect , to all who have kept us safe , that includes whites, blacks and many others races . Maybe if 90% of the population sat on there arse in the next conflict and let these activists defend us , and when there over run , see how many rights u get then .
I mean for those who want too celebrate First Fleet day, or give it another name. It's a free and democratic country, people can celebrate the historical event. Just maybe don't expect everyone to celebrate it as the national day.Could just as easily ask that question in reverse. My guess is not so much.

ANZAC Day is a commemoration ... not a celebration. That is what we have Anzac Day for
You can’t, though, disagree with a stated fact after acknowledging it weakens your own standpoint. The national uproar really has very little to do with the date of this unfortunate event…Disagree with this, Jan 26 1788 is the day that life changed forever for indigenous Australians and their desendants. Hard to argue against it IMO (good and bad).
Agree with this part.
Do you mainly talk about this at the same time every year or is it a genuinely passionate issue daily?I think the culture war is deciding on and insisting Australia Day is celebrated 26 Jan. Can't those who want to honour that date have First Fleet Day or something actually related?

I generally take notice when is seems we are unable to move on from colonial thinking.Do you mainly talk about this at the same time every year or is it a genuinely passionate issue daily?
