Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Incorrect.
What's ridiculous is trying to compare stats across different competitions. You can only compare like things, so tries scored in the NRL is the only stat that matters.

The original post tried to suggest both players had scored the same number of tries, which is incredibly deceiving.

Sure a tries per game in the NRL would even be a better stat, if someone can be bothered to do the maths.
French would be ahead of Noffa and close to Johnson on tries per game in the NRL. Probably top 10-20 all time across first 40 career starts. He was better than people are giving him credit for and has shone in SL.

There’s a difference between cover and quality cover. If we’re being truthful with ourselves 3 of those 4 names aren’t quality NRL wingers.

. Lobb is a junior who hasn’t played a game of NRL.

. Alaimalo is a rugby union player who hasn’t played a game of NRL.

. Naden has talent but if we’re being realistic what he has shown lately is he’s a journeyman and couldn’t crack into a wooden spoon side. Haven’t given up on him however. I also consider him more a centre.

Staines I’ll give you.

Nofa leaving and the pending departure of Tupou we definitely need at least one more winger. Was told Fox is still quietly being shopped around. I wouldn’t be against it tbh. Taylan May another option.
Spot on. Top 6 sides, who we need to catch, have very few weaknesses in the NRL. Pretty easy to spot them in our roster as it stands and our best hope is a whole bunch of kids come good at once. Rare. I trust the brains trust (now we have one) are working on it.

Fox wouldn’t be a bad shout if the dogs decided to make room for both brothers.
I have a sneaky feeling Taylan will stay at Penrith and Terrell will be recruited to replace Leniu. Some of the players have already mentioned that they feel that Leniu will be hard to replace. Maybe Terrell might be acquired for that reason.

What makes you say that about a sg ball player?
Has been playing A grade in Mackay local comp, no backward step. Good comp up there, a lot of former nrl players . A mate of mine was involved in coaching the side - Maggie’s, spoke highly of him, as did other players in that comp, other coaches. Well advance well, cows, sharks, were after him as well.

Think a lot of people on here are to obsessed in the next big thing in the game and look too hard and critique, never played the game. What’s exciting is that young men want to come to our club, decent young men.

Gus on the prowl .. he's had sneaky secretive talks with both the Mays boys (Terrell and Taylan) about joining the Dogs .. watch this space .. Reminds of a quote Gus said late last season about how to building a club .. Gus said .. "to build a successful club you have to develop and promote the juniors within your club" .. to date the Dogs have bought 17 NRL 1st graders .. !! well said Gus you muppet .. !!

Surprise surprise - Pangai Jnr may want to return to RL.
Less than 6 months ago .. Pangai Jnr tore up his $750K contract with the Dogs to go boxing .. now the Broncos want to pick up Pangai for around $350K .. i would love to see the NRL grow some balls and say to the Broncos .. sorry he's worth $750K .. that's what you pay .. !!

Yep $ 350 would be a joke , maybe make them pay what ever another team would pay him , Say Dragons offer $ 650 2 year deal , they have to match it , other wise the cap is useless as he would be worth every cent of $ 650 k per year , but it’s the NRL. , Nothing Really Legit

I'd like to hear about it as well but we know it won't happen! The NRL is about entertainment and the Broncos are a crowd puller. Bums on seats and in lounge rooms watching the NRL. What we have to do is to continue to engage our juniors in the Inner West and Campbelltown/Macarthur regions and get their parents involved to back WTs.

If he does come back to the NRL I hope the Broncos do try sign him for 350k and the NRL forces the Dogs into honouring the rest of this initial contract, 400k, which they illegally forced him into breaking due to a fake retirement against his will.

That is the only justice.

Everyone could see the sham unfolding, the NRL can't ignore blatant corruption and cheating.

Wasnt a fluke adn the NRL change the ruck interpretations immediately after it to slow the game down.
It was a weird one. Even the years prior were won by noted big powerful packs but that year with the last 4 premiership winners failing to qualify it seem’d as though the game benefited a mobile pack and lots of ball movement for that season only and whoever did it best, benefited.

Bit off topic. Not that I have ever put much stock into Kemp, but he lost all credibility when he was talking about where Luai would end up back in November. Talked about it five mins in a clip I watched and hypothesised which clubs he could wind up at. Not once did he or any of the other numb skulls he has there mentioned us.
That was the perfect scenario though wasn’t it!

but it was his choice to go out of pocket?! The dogs avoided the payment.
Its only corruption and cheating IF he did get his full contract and it was done quietly to avoid the cost on the cap.

Kimmorley did it when he went from Melbourne to the Northern Eagles. Sheesh depressing that I remember that clearly. I’m getting old.
The one that is feels very similar to is RTS leaving the triple Minor Premiership winners to join a bottom 4 team at the Warriors. Even more odd given that he was waiting to claim the Fullback Jersey off Minicello and spent the entire 2015 season as the new custodian.

Back to the signings and suggestions thread.
I expect this may raise a few eyebrows and perfectly acceptable to receive multiple LOL emoji’s.
Thoughts on offering the off contract Tom Burgess a couple year deal?
Big bopper.
Experienced.
Still playing effectively.
Close to Jonnah.
Would be good mentor for our young props and someone to aspire to.
Same age as AFB and Braden Hamlin Uele.
Would cost maybe 400k-500k a season.
Would be able to be used as an experienced impact player off the bench.
