Well original purpose would be pre UFC 1 wouldnt it? The original purpose was an extension of the Gracie Challenges and was meant to prove which of the martial arts were superior and specifically to prove the Grace version of BJJ was the pre-eminent martial art. Simple fact. UFC was created by Rorion Gracie but was an extension of over 10 years of Gracie Challenges and Gracies dominating Vale Tudo events.

5 minutes brought strikers into the game. Of the first 17 UFC which were determined by superfight and before they brought weight divisions in, there were only 4 results that werent BJJ submissions or draw. Simple fact and if you knoew anything about martial arts you would know that 5mins takes BJJ out of the game. It was intentional.

If they went back to untimed, Gordon Ryan would be the GOAT for as long as he liked.

Read my posts. Never said I didnt like UFC, but it is what it is. Steven Thompson is the last specialist I can think of. GSP was as well. Name me a current UFC who is a specialist in a martial art. Maybe the Dagestanis? All MMA fighters are a conglomerate now and none of them can excel.

Had all the early fights downloaded.
Then watched the first Ultimate fighter and every season from there on out.
Along with every card I can catch.

It has a great time line, the story of how they got to where they are today, is quite interesting.

Fan base is a mixed bag, I know some doctors who love it... I know some tapout shirt meat head bros who love it... all fan bases can have their good and their bad.

Fastest growing sport and fights can go either way, some are wild, some are bland... but I'll always watch it.

I love MMA, but the UFC is going in a bad direction IMO. IMO Dana White has been a big part of making it what it is, and I also think he will kill it.

But to get back to the reason I got dragged into this thread....one thing the UFC is not ...is fake

Honestly I’m still missing your point. I love Muay Thai. I watch events. Watched in Bangkok and train badly. I don’t watch UFC to see my sport. I watch for mixed martial arts. Are you saying you like the original concept of watching high level athletes in specific disciplines fight? So a like some 9th degree BJJ weapon vs some massive street fighter? Cause they did that and it nearly went bankrupt.

In response to your post about going back to untimed fights, no weight divisions etc.... I said...

And it would. That is a simple fact and is indisputable. The Gracie family created the UFC as an extension of the Gracie Challenges to determine which martial art is the most effective and specifically to prove their version of BJJ is. Just stating a fact.

Dude...no one is going to take your UFC away, you can still wear your TapOut t shirts to the pub on a Sunday.

Let me answer the second part of your question more specifically. Personally, I would like to see untimed, no rounds fights. if you are the best fighter, you are the best fighter and you dont need a rest every 5 mins. Your point about going bankrupt exactly proves my point. if they had untimed fights, BJJ or Sambo wins 9/10 times and people who dont fight, wont watch. That doesnt mean that they arent the ULTIMATE fighter.

Probably a bit sensationalised.
For example... why is Max Holloway matched up against Justin Gaethje?
That'll end worse than when Max fought Dustin.

I like uncle Dana - dream job, but he has his favourites but he won't be around forever.

UFC is expanding and I believe in the right direction... hopefully the stars keep presenting themselves. We've got new guys about to break out like Bo Nickal, Jack Della Maddalena and we'll see how this guy who's fighting Volk goes.... and then the next generations coming through who have been legitimately training MMA, all aspects since young. I think the future is bright.

And UFC is the best product, highest pinnacle of the sport.... Bellator is dead. PFL is interesting but there's no doubt UFC is the top organisation.
