Exactly right.It's not likely he'll be at the Tigers no matter what the price. Going from the 2nd bottom team to the bottom team is hardly a career defining move for someone who can stay and earn $800K or who has options to go to Easts or even Parramatta who'll both be in the semi finals this year.
I can see the Roosters or Eels somehow finding the cap space to pay him his 800k contract value should he somehow get the Dragons to release him.
So even if we entered the race, why would he want to join the Wests Tigers if he could potentially join the Roosters or Eels for the same contract value ?
This is the realistic problem we face at the moment, hence the big emphasis on trying to develop our own juniors and recruiting young talent before they have reached their potential.
Not forgetting it could be very different in a few years time if we can build and become a highly competitive team.
