Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

Agree ink but it doesn’t change the argument re facilities. And if that is the case ( ie we’re playing well) and we played at Accor might we expect 25k plus per game. Accor in the geographic centre of Sydney and makes sense as not all Tiger fans live at Leichhardt or Campbelltown. We draw from a wide area.
Yes of. Course I agree I was just replying to @Lestronge statement that theres been no evidence they've never embraced the grround

Geez that podcast is a tough listen. Almost 2 hours of largely dribble, needs to be edited, trimmed down a lot...

Richo's comments regarding stadia are deeply deeply concerning. Looks like he really has no idea what he's talking about whatsoever.

The way we expand our membership is by having 20k members going to Leichhardt once a month.

There is no larger stadium which is suitable. We won't go to Allianz, we will never, ever go back to Parramatta. Accor stadium is horrible, the members have already overwhelmingly rejected it. So there are no other options. Re-developments for Campbelltown and Leichhardt are the way forwards.

Richo was stating that "women don't want to sit on a hill" well that's bullshit. There were thousands of women on the hill on saturday night, all having a good time. With their children. It certainly sounded like he hasn't been to the ground in over 10 years, and it shows.

Sure, more toilets could be handy, and more corporate space is needed too. Which is why we need to knock down the current grandstand and put in an L shaped stand that wraps around the western and northern ends. There will then be modern facilities, lots of corporate space, more toilets, food, and undercover seating.

Leichhardt is currently as good or better than Belmore, Kogarah and Brookie. And they've all received funding for upgrades. Penrith stadium isn't much better currently either, but due to Liberal party corruption they're getting an renovated stadium too.

Souths moving away from Moore Park worked because their members moved away. The majority of Sydney based Tigers fans still live in and around the inner west, Ctown hasn't embraced the club still, though that can change as we spend more money in the area. We don't have to spend money to engage the inner west, it's a given. If we move out of that area we will lose a lot of fans and members forever so i don't think Richo is that naive.
I think Richo was just delivering some harsh truths. We've obviously been mislead by previous management as to how good of a financial position the club is actually in & it is no longer feasible financially to continue to play games out of LO.

Umm how does that work exactly?
he has signed a one year deal for gf to stay in Sydney
he has also said in paper LO needs to get redevelopment funding and potentially CSS
See if Minns tips in or perhaps Qld get the GF who knows

I’ve been trying to work out what sort of crowd would have attended on Saturday night if the game was played at Accor ?
More, less or the same ?
I think probably more coz while the faithful packed our joint, reckon there might have been 20-25k at Accor. We have to remember accessibility for opposition supporters can also boost the crowd.
And there are a lot of people who say if the games at LO, forget it.
I could be wrong, it’s happened before 🤣🤣🤣

I get the new reality, don't like it but i'll go with it. However the new reality as a fan of 25 years comes with expectations. If you are going to kick us out of the ONE shining light as a Wests Tigers supporter I want absolute guarantees.
Cheaper tickets. Not just memberships, all tickets. I will not be returning to my previous 12 plus year membership mindset while you continue to rip people off.
If we are going to return and play out of ACCOR as it looks like Richie wants get the government or whoever hold the purse strings to make it into a football stadium. Not the quasi all purpose dump it is now. A rectangle with stands close to the pitch that can create an atmosphere. We don't need another oval.
The club is doing good things at last, I am all in with Benji and the vision. I was there on Saturday night, walked back to the car through the old hospital like we did through the glory days and the not so glorious times. It felt like i had come home saying hello to an old friend. I want more of that and If they want to take that away from me and the 16000 others there the other night then you had bloody better replace it with something better....

It’s a bit deeper than that I think . The gov back flipped on a complete stadium rebuild at Penrith , now it’s just a Reno , Wollongong was supposed to get an uplift , that’s not happening , Accor itself was supposed to get uplifted . All backflips and broken promises .
I get Covid was the big thing in that it caused a huge rethink and over estimation on how much impact that was going to have on the revenue of NSW gov , but yea . It’s like I said before about LO . If the gov. Won’t chip in for a very easy win in thier electorate , it really does make you ask , how much of any leverage the nrl/ tigers actually has .
I think it’s another couple of years to the state elections as well . So the NSW is in no hurry to make promises , and politic .
To be fair though , if they lose the GF , and the nrl decides to take it on the road ALA the Super Bowl , that would go a long way to losing thier electorate . Both because of poor a decision that is commercially , as well as it shows the disconnect with thier constituents ie. the NSW people . Newtown and upper north shore not included …( greens area and blazer wearing rugby libs)

Well written though. Took.a lot of time cause you said it well

Yeh Richo was way off about women not wanting to stand on the hill. Women are equally passionate supporters of the club and loving the hill is not a gender specific thing. You either love it or you don't.
So, I hope you don't pay $40 + for ga tickets to then have to stand on the hill?

A home ground advantage use to be all about the ground being full of your own supporters. Playing out of a shared stadium to help attract more fans from other teams wipes out any advantage the home team should enjoy. We will lose the experience and the advantage of a home town crowd same as the Sharks, Penrith, Manly, Parra supporters will have by maintaining grounds in their own locale once we give up those suburban home grounds. I believe as supporters we have compromised enough but it seems this is the way we are headed.

Very true TT it all seems inevitable but if our fans support the club in sufficient numbers we should develop a new home ground advantage. You see, we are still a basket case between LO and CS. And then we have the question, if we got funding where would we allocate if ?
We just don’t seem to have the clout of those clubs you mentioned. At least not yet.

It’s a similar situation at the races. I attend the track every Saturday, rain, hail or shine but there is no public incentive. No one supports “ the little guy” who should be rewarded for loyalty, without necessarily having to buy club memberships.
At some American racecourses they offer a public special, where you can pre purchase a ga ticket for every meeting( it’s actually a book of tickets), that also includes a hot dog and a beer. Nothing sensational but it all helps to get bums on seats.
I know it’s racing v footy but the principle is the same that you are alluding to.
