In 2006, Michael Stepien was k*lled in a robbery.
His family chose to donate his organs, and his heart went to Arthur Thomas, a man in New Jersey who desperately needed a transplant.

Ten years later, Michael’s daughter Jeni was getting married.
She didn't want an empty chair at the front to represent her father.
Instead, she wrote to Arthur - a man she had never met - and asked him to walk her down the aisle.
Arthur flew to Pennsylvania and did exactly that.

At the altar, Jeni placed her hand flat against Arthur's chest. Afterward, she said something very simple: she could feel her father's heartbeat.

In January 2009, three masked thieves broke into Berlin’s famous KaDeWe department store and escaped with around $6.8 million worth of jewelry and luxury watches. They entered through the roof and lowered themselves into the store while avoiding its security system.

But investigators found a discarded glove containing DNA. It led them to 27-year-old identical twin brothers Hassan and Abbas O. The problem was that the DNA testing available to investigators could not determine which twin had left the evidence.
German law required prosecutors to prove the involvement of an individual suspect, so neither brother could be held responsible based on the DNA alone.

Both twins were released in March 2009. The stolen jewelry was still missing, and police were also searching for a third person seen on surveillance footage.
