Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Interesting on the outside back front. Really unsure where we go. Wing we have Staines & Naden next year... Lobb on a development deal. I would suggest Toa maybe moves to the wing as well.

I'd like Faataape signed to a top 30 deal & Feledy moved on. Centres are then Olam & Faataape. Toa for depth.

Kepaoa unsigned for next year.

Not a lot on the market. Maybe Adam Doueihi if fit & firmly knows he will play 2-5, 13 or Bench???
I think there's a few decent outside backs on the market we should be looking into. the cupboard isn't bare by any stretch, but the issue is that we probably need two wingers and a centre. agree tho that Faataape has to be kept. jury is out on Doueihi.

Daniel Tupou and Dane Gagai are experienced players that could come in for a couple years and do a really good job for us while acting as mentors for guys like Laulili'i, Makasini, Willett, Large and Craig. Nick Cotric is another experienced candidate I think that would lift us and is well down the pecking order at Canberra.

if you wanted to go down the semi-untested route, Kayal Iro, Savelio Tamale, Isaiah Tass and James Schiller are all stuck behind players at their current clubs and would be welcome additions for us. if you wanted a solid option, Reimis Smith might be enticed by the chance to come back to Sydney.

there's obviously Lomax and I'm sure we're talking to him as well, but he'll be in demand. guys like Bailey Simonsson and Blaize Talagi would suffer if he ends up at Parra, you'd probably want to have a chat to them as a result. there's also @Vicious' man Semi Valemei off contract as well. point is there's a fair few options, it's just making the right call.

blaze talagi from Parramatta is unsigned form next year, knows Galvin's game we should go for him at centre

He's being Groomed to be the Long Term Fullback at Parra with Gutho to go to Centre...

Fullback at a club like Parra
Centre at the Tigers...

- I'll let you set your own odds....

I would not be surprised at all if Lomax is the play and we are keeping everything very quiet on this front (as Richo mentioned in the podcast about no leaks about recruitment). Lomax keeps getting linked to Parra but would not be surprised if we are a major player.

Agree re Gagai but hopefully they identify our need for express pace in the backline. Schiller is the man here!

100% will be external.
There are options both contracted or not.

Ideally we should be recruiting by specific position.
Assuming Olam keeps playing well for us, we would have left centre covered with To’a, Faatape, Feledy and Makasini who all also favour playing left centre.
Towards the end of this season I think we’ll need the make a choice between Faatape and Feledy.
I agree with Tiger Tarl is saying David Fifita would be the type of player that could help parachute us into genuine title contenders.
He has the tackle busting line breaking ability we are currently lacking in our forwards, but we would have to offload Bateman in order to be any chance of getting him and fitting in our salary cap.
Right centre is where we need to recruit preferably Zac Lomax or James Schiller who would both offer strike and a massive upgrade on what we currently have.
As damaging ball running prop Trey Mooney should be a prime target.
To allow all these signings we would need to offload players and at this point of time unless things change we should potentially offload Bateman, Sullivan and Naden, have a long hard think about whether or not we persist with youngsters such as Laulilli, Miller & Saukuru and obviously make re-signing Utoikamanu a priority.
For a bargain basement buy, I like the look of Bailey Hayward who is a natural playmaking halfback with a decent kicking game and the added bonus he also plays well and defends strongly as a 9. He’s the ideal type of versatile back up player.
This type of recruiting would leave us the likes of Staines and To’a as our wingers, so signing another winger or two to either keep pressure on them or take their spot would also be essential. I do believe Semi Valemai ticks a lot of boxes and wouldn’t cost much.

I see that Paul Kent must really must hate the TIGERS, first saying that Leichhardt Oval should be scrapped and no money given to an upgrade, how mush he doesn't like Leichhardt and if the NRL did buy it and upgrade, it would not be fair on other Teams. Then goes on how API should have been suspended for 6 weeks for a hip drop, he continually rubbishes our club, docen't say much about the Roosters or Bulldogs, I wonder why.

Depends how ruthless we are for mine I would happily let go of Naden Toa staines and as much as it hurts douhei. I don't think any of them are truly modern first-graders atm. My question is what other team would they start or come off the bench for I can't one.

If you picked up dave fifita with some money chipped in surely you do it, He is exactly what we lack, a devastating ball runner who over the last year has improved his work rate as well. Shocked people wouldn't. Imagine him running off luai, wowzer that's delicious

I agree having a devastating ball runner such as David Fifita playing alongside Jerome Luai would take our team to another level.
I hope we become ruthless like other clubs, try and make big signings like this happen and be ruthless in offloading players who would become excess to requirements.

that was Brent Read that said that a out other nrl teams etc not Kent
Kent is a member now ... lol

I doubt that's where Richo's focus is to be honest. Fifita would be nice to have but in Bateman and Papali'i we have two very good backrowers that I think will only improve this year.

we definitely need at least one backrower to either sit on the bench or remain as depth, but obviously Fifita is in the top echelon. I'd love for us to bring Sam McIntyre back, or even have a look at guys like Jack Williams or Euan Aitken.
I wish people would stop mentioning Euan Aitken. Bloke is terrible.

Cotric would be a total waste of money. Hasn't been any use since he went to the Dogs, he's a fringe first grader at best nowadays.

Whatever the result we know Richo has flagged a "go to" outside back & middle tier players as the priority. He also stated he would like to release a few more & build a "war chest".

Fifita hits the war chest mark. Big signing.

Outside back will keep us all guessing I think.

26 on the books for 2025. Including Tumeth with a Player Option & Sezer & Stef with a Mutual Option.

Tumeth you would think goes, he won't play first grade.

Essentially 25 on the books now.

Faataape, Simpkin, Kepaoa, Doueihi, Alaimalo & Sione Fainu unsigned.

Faataape & Sione yes please. Makes 27...

Depending on how long To’a recovers from his ankle injury he may miss out on coming back in the starting side all together if Faataape continues to hold his own.
Surely he might get a tap in that case.

Toa is the first one to go please. He has done nothing for our team apart from one game. Have to wonder what Naden has done as well. I cannot remember the last time he played for us let alone have a positive input. When you look into it, there is quite a lot of dead wood around the place. Douiehi would be another one with a big question mark. There appears to be a lot of money tied up on rubbish.

Off loading Toá, Naden and Douhei [to mention just a few who have peaked and are still not too flash] would certainly free up some space to shop around.
James Schiller sounds like a goer for a centre [from other reports] and Trey Mooney the type of prop we need as part of our prop rotation.
