Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

6 is Douehi‘s only NRL level position … and we have other options …too many in fact ..

it would be pointless for us to try and play him elsewhere… and he would be doing himself a disservice … he would be better off looking for another club
he would be better off looking for another club
Stop sweet talking me Tom, Mrs BF is worried I’m starting to turn.
Please tell me you are his manager in disguise.

Toa, Naden and Staines are all here for next year.

Along with Feledy.
It's just horrible roster management. None of them deserved lengthy contracts. I'd tell all three with the way they're currently playing they're free to move on immediately if they have any takers. I'd even chip in 100k for each of them to leave just to free up a roster spot

There needs to be an audit of the finances of all Roosters players from say the last 5 years.
Cheating the cap is cheating the cap. Given gambling is involved having teams rigging the system, providing free drugs etc, is all highly illegal. It's not a secret either. When will someone have the balls to do something about it?
Post football kick backs and employment opportunities is the big deal clincher

Nobody will do anything about it unless it’s unavoidable that they have to. It’s not in the interests of anyone. The NRL are only worried about image and revenue. A scandal doesn’t help these. The players and players’ association are only worried about earning as much money as possible and they don’t care if it’s legal or illegal. If they cleaned up the cap and third party payments they would earn less. The only people that care are the fans of the struggling teams that can’t get off the bottom because of the cheating. And nobody cares about them, they just threaten the status quo. It’s easy to fob them off as sore losers and “nothing to see here”.

I wonder as AFL and soccer keep growing whether the increased competition will force the NRL to get serious about equality to keep people interested. That’s still 10 to 20 years away though.

Nothing
But experienced coaches can only do so much, if they have the tigers rosters compared to the sharks
Agree mate. Need the right coach & players for success. The Jury is out on whether Benji will be the right coach or not. I think it's clear the rosters too weak.
However, anyone could see the roster, financial,& governance issues the club has. In my view, not the time for the Benji experiment.

Can’t disagree with any of that but I think Benji is doing the best with what his got. Have to remember it was the previous brains ( poor term in this case) trust that thought it was a good idea, thankfully at least they are gone and there is some clear air ahead hopefully

We need to stop looking at a player like they will change. Naden has been like that for 5yrs+ now.
He won’t get better & is who he is which is nothing more than a reserve grade quality player.

He is costly and has been for ages & never wins us an NRL game from his brilliance.

He is a perfect example of our weakness as a team.
And it's why both Penrith and the Dogs were more than happy to get rid of him.

We’re constantly signing players, hoping they will be diamonds in the rough. Sulivan, Faataape and Alaimalo are further examples

Afl bottom 4 get flogged weekly dont you worry.

The comp this year is a lot closer and the blow outs are not as frequent as in the past. I just think over the past few years we have recruited the wrong style of player for the way the game is now played. The game is all about speed, skill and power. The good defensive plodder is a thing of the past and we have plenty of them.

He was a good recruit at the time when we got him from the Dogs at a bargain price but the problem was that as usual we upgraded a player way to early when it was not justified, which seems to be what we do all the time just to make up the numbers.
Fully agree with upgrading players for no reason, however Naden was never a good recruit at any price.
