Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

As Tucker said below, we aren't even currently a team of squeaky clean players.

Smith allegedly has a serious gambling issue to the point it is effecting his career and relationship. I doubt we are the ones to turn it around considering he has had these issues since before he was even in Melbourne. Cowboys sacked him from his first contract. We already lament at how dumb our team is, do we really think bringing in someone even dumber is the solution?
Benji was a big gambler during his playing days. If he has overcome his demons he could be exactly the mentor Brandon needs. He was a revelation during his time at Melbourne we would be nuts not to be interested in him.

I believe the Roosters would be very tempted to release Teddy and Brandon Smith for 2025 in return for Galvin and Bula as they don’t want Teddy past 2025 and they don’t want Brandon Smith full stop.
As it currently stands they have no choice in where Angus Crichton decides to play in 2025. Crichton would not be the slightest bit tempted in signing for Wests Tigers at the moment, go to him with a package that includes Tedesco, Brandon Smith, Royce Hunt etc if could be a very different story.
Likewise Stefano is definitely not staying with the team we currently have, add a few experienced top class players and he would likely change his mind.
Likewise in trying to sign players such as Royce Hunt, we are not currently an attractive proposition, we need to somehow add some experienced top class players to show we are capable of making a massive improvement straight away in 2025.
Only way we can possibly keep Onitoni Large is to parachute him into our top 30 on a decent contract and show him he will potentially come into a team filtered with experienced top class players.
One common denominator get Teddy to give us a realistic chance of success in 2025.
What a desperate and fanciful load of BS!!

Did you watch Origin?

Teddy is not only well past his best before date - but he is a non-effort liability when not playing in a dominant side!

He would only set the WORST POSSIBLE example for the team culture!

And how would he attract any players - when he has one foot halfway out the retirement door?

Such short-term thinking would be hugely damaging to our longer term prospects - and I am extremely happy that there is no way that Richo or Benji would share your skewed vision of this supposed shortcut to "success"!

Are you not seeing all our up and coming players wanting out at all costs ?
If we don’t get results fast, there will not be a future, there will not be a Wests Tigers.

Really ?
I assume you have a Wests Tigers team for 2025 that is better ?
Yeah - I can also put together a hypothetical team of players in the NRL who are zero chance of playing at the Tigers next year too - that certainly would not include TEDESCO!!

But as it is all just imaginary bullshit - and "trading" players doesn't happen in the NRL - I'll leave the fan fiction to teenagers and the feeble minded!

I gave genuine reasons as to how we could potentially persuade Stefano tn stay and how we could potentially persuade 5 genuine quality players to sign with us and it’s certainly not because they want to play alongside Bula and Galvin,
And not saying those 2 cannot be top quality players down the track, hence the reason I believe they could potentially be used as trade bait, but they are not even close to being good enough to retain or attract other top quality players at the moment.

The club is not going anywhere.

We survived 10 years of Pascoe etc - and to get out of this hole we need a strategic focus on long-term development and targeted recruitment - NOT more panic buying of "veteran" players whose reputations far exceed their ability and contemporary form!

Galvin and Stef aren't "all our up and coming players"!!

But your ironic solution to this is to actually offer up two of our best young players (ONE who is happy to be loyal and signed long term) for a disloyal former Tiger at the end of his career - to TRY to keep Stef who even you acknowledged played like a fricking powder-puff last game!

All in on Stef and Teddy???

Bulldogs currently 7th spot having last played finals in 2016.

They appear to be the closest team to WT situation.

Besides landing the best Centre in the game Critchton and players like Tracey, Mahoney and Burton last couple of season is there anything else WT could learn from the bulldogs so team can be challenging for top 8 spot on 2025/2026.

Thoughts?
