Api's tackle put Collins into a dangerous position. There was no need for it. The momentum had been stopped and Api lifts him and flips him past horizontal. This was directly after he had just given away a penalty for accidental knees in the back. His blood was up and he got carried away. This is where a 5 minute spell would have worked rather than 10. Interestingly he wasnt charged.
Doueihis tackle can wreck a player's season. The NRL has cracked down on it all year and rightly so. However...it was not a classic hipdrop. The majority of his falling body did not impact the legs. The NRL obviously agrees because he has copped the smallest fine possible from the match review mob. Therefore, the 10 minute sinbin is way overboard.

I would have given them both penalties against and charged them with $1000 fines respectively.

Im surprised AD didn't get charged for breaking Manus hand. 12th mans headbutting Tony Locketts elbow type stuff.
 
You can't have the fast contact game that the NRL wants without putting players safety at risk. Awarding six agains invites risk/ error with players under fatigue and desperation they are more likely to miscue. The players are fit but even the best teams if they are starved of possession at the hands of discretionary penalties will make errors that can come under the banner of being undisciplined just through mental and physical fatigue.

You got it right when you advocate blowing up the bunker.

Has there been a game this season where despite all the technology they have available and the opportunity to scrutinize every minor detail ad nauseam, they still manage to come up with a howler.

It's obvious that they do not have a feel for the game or what is a reasonable expectation of how the rule should be applied or why sometimes applying the rules by going to the minutest detail is not in the best interests of the game.

That was awesome how Doueihi gave Manu's hand a little slap and did that much damage to him.

When they were running out for the second half I was thinking that in the spirit of good sportsmanship, Doueihi should have stood on the side line as the Roorters ran out with his hand out stretched to give all the players a high five.

With all the injuries he would of caused we could quite easily have won that game.

Astonishing considering AD failed to place another hand on anyone or anything all weekend.

I missed it on TV during the game, but they were saying on the Tigers podcast that AD gave Faataape a gob full after the Roosters first try …. Amazing lack of self awareness there…

That one looked like Faataape had an opportunity to be passive and give AD time to slide. Didn’t excuse Manu beating him all ends up every other time though.

100%, the high number of instances has direct causation from the NRL's push for non-stop action at break kneck speed.
Ironically, there seems more penalties as well which slows play down....

Countered by the 6 agains that give a team already on a roll even more momentum.

Cheers mate. I’m surprised at 6 games without a binning, seems like we’ve had a player binned at every turn. Still quite a lot though, especially compared to recent seasons. Don’t know if our discipline is worse than in previous seasons or the refs are just bin happy this year.
 
The 6-again rule takes teams practically out of a game if they are 'hanging on'.

So the lesser teams, doing their best to stay in the game, are trying to slow the play down, giving away multiple repeat sets, an effectively defending for large portions of the game. You can't win like that.

Sometimes wonder if they are just better off letting the opposition score early & restart at the halfway to kick than try holding on for 6 sets of 6 on the line only to give up a try anyway.
