Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Can’t say I recall him ever saying that ,,,

Is this the one where he also stated that we are a development club and only need a player or two externally to compete the squad ? You don’t seem to want to listen to that though do you?
Do you ?
There is more chance of pigs flying than there is of Wests Tigers getting off the bottom of the NRL ladder, unless they recruit at least 4-5 quality NRL players.

haven’t heard that … they were trying to get by on plasma injections but that’s now run its course….and obviously hasn’t worked ….. it was reported in the media that “clean out surgery” was an option. ..the article didn’t say he was reluctant to have the surgery
I know I read it somewhere. Will try and find it. Cheers

It’s actually astounding how many first grade quality players we have (or don’t have).

We don’t need world beaters, we need some hard nosed consistent first graders.

The biggest issue is having top 30 spots filled with either kids that are nowhere near ready and complete unknowns or players who are contributing nothing but we can’t move on.

Were in a bad spot.
We all knew we had a weak squad for 2024. But, we released Kepaoa and Simpkin mid season, and didn't replace them, the big losses are inevitable. In 2023 we released Ofahengaue and didn't replace him, big losses followed. An explanation as to why we only weaken poor squads, needs to be forthcoming by the Club.

There is this bit on post #867 by Rusty- that may have been stuck in my mind but I'll try finding something more concrete

Neither Simpkin or AJ would have been picked in that team …so I can’t really agree that as a justification for the poor performance… I actually agreed with both decisions to release those players actually ..and give the younger players a go like Da Silva

Ofa is a different story ..but just another lame decision by the previous regime

Doueihi will drop himself to KOE next week if he lives by his own words.

"The more I get close to the boys in these next few weeks and the more I can take charge of the team, I can sort of be that dominant figure and help pull some of these younger blokes in line and show them what the standards are at this club."

"If they're not living up to the standards that I feel and the other leaders feel are the benchmark, then they can go and sit back in reserve grade as far as I'm concerned."

Do you think that he might be at least a bit embarrassed that he ever uttered those words? 🤣 🤣🤣

Looks like he showed them what the standards are last night and being the dominant figure that he is, it looks like quite a few followed his lead.

My guess would be it is to accommodate our up and coming players who via their managers demand top 30 contracts in order to stay with us.
They know many of these players are not quite ready for top 30 contracts and they know some of them will never become player they promised to be throughout their junior careers, but I’m guessing the club is terrified of the backlash if they let a promising junior go who could potentially develop into a top class NRL player.
It’s a dammed if you do, damned if you don’t type situation.

I'm not a fan of Kepaoa, but he's a better Centre than Faatape. Simpkin at 14 is a better option than giving Mason 15mins at Centre, which he will never play at NRL level.
Richo went to the UK on a Recruitment and Cap mission, so far hasn't been able to offload under performers like Naden,Sullivan or Staines and brought back a Reserve Grader from Castleford.
It's not improving any time soon.

How come we have not heard from Richo for so long?
He really needs to come out and give update to the paying members as this rubbish is just not acceptable.

IMO he has been unable to get anyone decent because if he did, he would have said something to give us fans to celebrate

It's just so depressing as a Tigers fan

The club, team, coaching staff and ceo need to scrap plans for an end of season trip to Fiji and put some serious time in reviewing not our squad but our ‘kids’ that are being offered positions in the top squad before it gets to this again.
The kids that have debuted that haven’t been sighted in first grade again are wasting positions in our squad.
We need to get real and offer up positions to only our best of our best.
In their place we recruit similar to the dogs have done.
Go after first graders that aren’t either getting game time game day or starting.
There is a lovely list of players that everyone is putting together that is to be honest unachievable.
We are the Wests Tigers. The worst performing, worst reputable team in the NRL era.
We need to look in the depths that other teams won’t go and put together a competitive side.
the key might be a competitive coach to bring them all together.
I.e Brad Arthur.
