What a great win from the Magpies boys yesterday!!!
Great performance from Casey, Sullivan, Toa, Latu, Aho and Finau
Extremely classy win from the boys. I thought they capitalise on opportunities a lot more then the chooks but I wouldn't say the roosters played poorly it was just a very smart win fro the Magpies.
From the get go Casey looked excellent. 100% effort on every play. Seems like the "challenge the kick" every time has gotten to reserve grade too. I think Casey might slide into the first grade team by the end of the year taking over from Faatape.
Sullivan definitely stepped up in terms of leadership. Leading the park around very well. Miles above the performance from last week and providing opportunities every time the Magpies entered the 20. Due to the Api injury he will play next round.
Starford Toa was excellent. His first touch of the ball he ran it for over 30m. So dangerous with the ball in hand and was breaking tackles every time he touched the ball. Starford definitely looked out of place (in a good way) in terms of ball playing. Quite dangerous with the ball in hand. Still has a bit to go in terms of getting back to full health.
Latu Fainu look awesome on his return. Very happy with his minutes and his way of play. Looked great complimenting Sullivan. I feel it might be a headache once he starts performing. Don't forget he is much more highly touted as a junior then Galvin. I feel Galvin got the rub of the green in terms of Latu being injured in preseason. One day Latu will be offloaded for some good cash or converted into a 9 or 14 and I would love to see that.
The forward pack was surprisingly good. With TDS and Kit dropping out last minute to I presume to play first grade next week. Some fringe reserve grade player Aho and Finau looking great. Aho looked very good and high volume too. I was sitting in the stands wondering if I was actually looking at Aho or someone else. TBH I had never heard of him before.
Heath Mason looked great but his size will never do him favours. Will need to permanently move to the centres if he wants a shot at first grade. To be frank he will never cut it.
I find in reserve grade they play players out of position for the sake of playing them. Johanssen was miles out of place a prop but still did his job.
On the new singning Tasipale, he looked fine. Some great runs but he looks a little fat. Don't know if he can go the full 80.
Great performance. Knew it was coming on the back of last week. I think this side with stay together for the rest of the season barring injuries. Warriors will be tough but I think they're up for the challenge.
Up the maggies
