Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Recent report advising Dragons are releasing Ravalawa.

Would be nice to be interested in players that are actually still wanted by their existing club… they are losing one of their best players this year ( Lomax) .. still willing to cut ties with big boy here .. he must be shit..

A premiership winning coach cant seem to get the most out of him … Im sure Benji will be up for it though

got future Wests Tigers signing all over it

I was against Rava a few weeks ago, however the way he is starting the Dragons sets is very useful. He has some other typical deficiencies that come with the big Fajian wingers, but as long as he continues to show the hunger to run hard then I think I'd be willing. We desperately need more go forward from our back 5.

Not what we need , we need players who are ready to go and are an upgrade on our current lot , he is not very good

I'm not completely sold either, but the games I've watched this year, Ravawala has been very good. Not sure why he was dropped a few weeks back, but his ability to get the Dragons up the field is right up there and something we badly need. Bula kick return, followed by big Ravalawa tackle two then Turuva play 3 with his footwork and we are at halfway. It's a big thing.

need first graders ..this guy is not that ..

I think people see a guy and think .. well he is better than our crap player X … and whilst this might be the case … it’s not going to move the needle very far at all if he is still not a guy playing at NRL standard

I tend to agree with what your saying. It may come down to the approach Benji wants. With someone like Rava and Turuva, ge can really emphasise the starts of our sets to gain momentum much like Penrith and the Sharks do. It does come with some downfall in regards to Rava though. There must be a reason Flanno is off him.

Can’t be Sukkar or Tumeth problem because they were not there and the Cup side got flogged. I think Wests need to look at the real underlying issue here and it’s their defence and error rate. Until they fix that, there will be no improvement and they will yield the same results. They have changed players each week like nappies on a baby! No difference or change and it’s not the Coach.
We should use disposables.

Bellamy hardly signs or identifies any of the young recruits. Paul Bunn has full control of who comes to the club where Bellamy provides feedback on who he wants to keep. Bellamy's greatest trait is knowing what he knows (coaching) and what he doesn't (recruitment) and allowing others to do what he doesn't know.
If there is someone better than you at something never compete against them always hire them.

Would fit in with the team of short outside backs we’re trying to build.

Unfortunately the only tall winger in the squad (Lobb) hasn't shown he's up to it. He had a pretty good game v Warriors during the trials but his dreadful game against the Sharks (they scored at least 3 tries due to his bad reads/errors) has sealed his fate, barring a catastrophic injury toll, he won't see 1st grade again any time soon.

I feel sorry for him as he was obviously injured (he could barely walk) & Benji didn't bench him when he clearly should have.
At least Tommy Talau had some height & could compete in the air, something that the Tigers have generally failed to do with so many vertically challenged wingers/centres over years.

When teams like the Roosters play the Tigers they just put up bombs to the corners on the 4th or 5th tackle knowing that their taller guys will (9 times out of 10) outleap our shorter defender and more likely than not score a try.

And the Roosters struggle with the Storm and Panthers, and the Panthers with 2 supposedly short wingers have won 3 premierships in a row.
