Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Bateman usually bails out before his contract ends and i hope it happens again, unfortunately Klemmer will probably stick till the bitter end. Both were paid too much for too long
Yea, though I can't see us attracting better talent.

If we don't have a strong front row, forget it.

We won't be able to sell Klemmer for 800k, would be lucky to get 600k. He still punches on, if even he has a slow play the ball.

It's not that he is our best forward. It's that with him in the team we have:
Klemmer, Pole, Stef, Bateman, Matumua, Sam Fainu, Twal/seyfarth...

Loosing Klemmer means the people behind Matumua have to step up, THATS BAD.

We will likely loose stef, We can loose Bateman as he isn't very effective for us but does a stack of work. ...
Our pack which actually isn't that bad suddenly looks horrible once we take Paps + Klem away. minus stef we go from a pack that's maybe half way in the comp to a pack that's dead set 17th.

I know we are in a bad spot. Loosing Klem would make it worse.

Yes Klemmer still does a job , if Stef goes and we could secure Hunt we would be loads better off and then just keep working on Sam and Sione , Pole and Seyfarts , plus the kids who have stepped up keep working hard on them

Stefano 9 runs for 95mtrs and 30 tackles

Klemmer was on for 24mins, 4 runs 46mtrs and 13 tackles. Lowest for the season.

Sione Fainu & Pole stats looked great.

Very interesting that Benji didn't put Klemmer back on. Hopefully it wasn't because of injury and more to do with how soft he was playing. I watched him closely yesterday and he deadset plays with complete self preservation. There is zero physical impact on anything he does. It really is a shame because he can tackle and he can run, but as far as aggression and physicality goes he is embarrassing himself every week.

Thought that was telling when Benji didn't put Klem
back on for a 2nd stint. Sione Fainu & Pole give hope.
Really missed out on an opportunity to get a win
though with Parramatta having the bye. Looking
forward 2 see how Alaimalo & To'a play today in cup

Yeah very interesting. Did anyone see if Klemmer picked up any sort of injury when he came off? I didn't notice at the time.

If we are serious about next season these are the changes that must happen:
We need to move on from Klem and replace him with an NRL prop from outside. If we lose Uto (likely to happen IMO) we need to replace him as well with another aggressive middle.
We also need an edge player who can make a break and defend - also needs to be an NRL player with a competitive character.
In the Backs we need 1 winger and 1 centre with NRL experience.
Unfortunately we have no squad room for this so we would have to do deals to open up positions in our 30. If we are being ruthless about this there are probably 10 guys who need to go but a start would be Naden, Bud, Tumeth (plus Klem and Uto).
I believe it is super important that any player that we bring in is an out and out “competitor” and a leader on field with his actions- a quality that is missing and will add to the influence of Luai, Api, and others.
P. S. Olam injury and playing future needs to get sorted one way or another. This may mean stop playing now and surgery etc plus proper rehab time for next season.

Weidler reporting Stef met with Melbourne over the weekend & is expected to make a decision by Wednesday. He's goooneeee
I thought we already knew that. He allegedly met with them when we played Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. Seems they're the only one in the race, so if they don't sign him his only option seems to be staying here.

It's important to get the decision made- regardless of what it is.

I don't think the club can get the same quality player in return. It will be interesting to see how they move to replace him. NAS would be good. I still like Hetherington in the reported Newcastle clear-out.

Spot on mate, I would like both players.
